Religion: "a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith" that is Atheism, thank you very much.

Dictionary.com:
Religion:
3. A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.
4. A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

The "spiritual leader" talked about in #3 is obviously a scientist or politician or "science" teacher.

Wow, how silly.  You've taken the second definition from the dictionary, not the first one. You're trying to substitute the literary or exaggerated definition for the legal and primary one.

If someone said, "I'm on a crusade to get finish painting my house by Sunday night", would you assume that they were on a religious military campaign that involved painting?  Of course not.  You would know that it was an exaggeration, that the person merely wanted to say that they were absolutely bound and determined to finish painting.

In just the same manner, the context of the 2nd definition of religion (the one you mis-used above) is "religion" in the sense of "the religion of Nebraska football" or the "religion of wise spending".  It's a belief that someone holds very strongly.

It's religion in the literary or exaggerated sense.  But it is not religion, in the legal sense.

It's in Mirriam Webster as the definition for religion so I'll use it, and it does not say that the 2nd one is to be used in your created context. This is all semantics anyway, and you know that. atheism is a religion just like buddhism, etc. your deity just happens to be nature.

Belief in God is not 'Religion' in the legal sense.

The Constitution makes it clear that no religion is to get favored status over the other religions. Basically, that the government shall not establish a religion. Period.

I think it quite amuzing that the same people who want to shove 'alternative lifestyles' down our throats, who becry "FREEDOM OF SPEACH!!!!", don't really want it to apply here.

And, the double standards just keep on coming.

Yes, actually, or something very close to it.

I don't like the idea of handing out condoms, but I like the alternatives even less. Studies have shown that stressing abstinence doesn't work. Kids are having sex these days whether we like it or not. The least we can do is try to ensure it's safe.

Personally, I'm in favor of pre-marital sex. I'm not in favor of kids that age doing it. But I don't feel that it's the position of our schools to tell them what's right.

Evolution is not a religion, and frankly, it's getting boring hearing theists say that.

Evolution is a theory, a scientific study that has enormous (but not completely conclusive) evidence behind it, just like Newton's theories and Einstein's theories.

Are you now advocating that we don't teach any science whatsoever? Or just the ones that don't conflict with your personal worldview?

BTW, this is great news in regards to the court decsion made today.  Although, I do think it will be successfully appealed (there's just too many ticked off Christians!).

Hey buddy, I noticed the American flag next to your username. If you are an American, it is your Supreme Court, as well. And, exactly who on the Supreme Court is Christian?

After the Supreme Court essentially declared Bush to be the President, I'm not so sure, I'm afraid. I mean, yes, I'm stuck with them, and yes, their judgements will affect me, but it's hard for me to feel like they truly represent this country's laws.

This is moot, of course, because there's extremely little I can do about it.

You have yet to show how your statement that anytime the word "God" is used, it is a reference to the Abrahamic God.

Please indulge me. Also, explain how this squares with "Freedom of Speach".
