I had my first panic attack 18 years ago, so I understand how difficult it can be to cope with anxiety. Im glad that you have seen a doctor, and I encourage you to be a good consumer, and research panic disorders. Medications can be helpful, if they are the right Rx., and the correct dose. If it isnt helping, be patient. If theres little improvement, tell your MD. Remember that its physiological; that its the body or the vessel. Youre not going crazy, you wont suffocate, youre not going to have a heartattack, you wont pass out
panic wont kill you, I PROMISE!!! Neurotransmitters are misfiring triggering your fight or flight response when there is no real threat. Have you considered talking to a counselor,in addition to meds., as changing our thought processes is ESSENTIAL, especially cognitive behavioral therapy. You learn to practice deep breathing. You focus on your breathing, slowly in and out. The increased oxygen will help calm you, while redirecting the focus of your thoughts. You cant be calm and nervous at the same time. Changing your thoughts when you feel an onset of panic will keep it in check. Learn and practice, and they will disapate. A couselor can give you guidence and support for this. Medication alone, while helpful to a degree, is similar to a band aid: It treats the symptom, but not the source, so to speak.
Anxiety and fear can block Gods purpose for us. We neednt suffer unnecessarily, Thats not what God want for us. I couldnt understand why it was happening, but in time I made some sense of it by having learned a deeper level of compassion and understanding for others. Ask Him to give you guidence, and keep praying for comfort. Hes given the gift of healing to many professionals. We are accountable to seek them out for ourselves that we may continue to fulfill His purpose for us. Have hope, be patient, and dont beat yourself up! Pray, lean on th Lord, and reach out to others.
May the Lord guide you and give you hope and comfort. May you find more peace and contentment. May your heart be open that the Spirit may strengthen your faith and bring you closer to God. Have peace. (JOHN:27 ).
Youll be in my prayers.
