I would like to see the non-debate for others dropped for the main forum.

I interpret this to mean that you are suggesting that within the Traditional and Progressing subForums ONLY Adventists should be allowed to debate but all others should be allowed to debate in the main or third Forum. Am I correct?

If that is what he meant, that is something that we were talking about in the wiki. One of our proposals was to change the Progressive SDA Sub-forum into a Debate/Discussion Sub-forum, where debate would be allowed by everyone (Adventists, other Christians, and non-Christians). The Main SDA Forum would be limited to fellowship and questions. That is a different issue, though, to be discussed further and voted on when the time comes.

The purpose of this poll is merely to approve some temporary rules until our long-term rules are finalized. These interim rules are similar to our old SDA forum guidelines because that is the easiest thing to get everyone to agree on.

Love, as Sophia stated, we're just setting up temporary rules right now until we decide on what the permanent rules will be.

If we allowed debate right now I'm afraid we'd never get all these new rules decided on, so it made a lot of sense to me to keep the rules we had for a while.

Yes, these are basically the old rules that were in effect before CF went through a complete make-over, so to speak.

Those sorts of things will be covered under the general CF rules. What we are supposed to do is come up with forum-specific rules, especially regarding who is allowed to debate here. Anyone can post in the SDA forum (including non-Christians now since Erwin's changes), but we can decide how much we want to limit debate from non-Adventists.

It depends. Some come and go. Off the top of my head I have 6 (including you) that I know come here a lot that haven't voted in the "who is allowed to vote" poll.

There are lots of SDA members at CF, but most of them are inactive. You can see a list of all CF members who have an SDA icon here. Keep in mind that there are many more who do not have an SDA icon.

Click on their names to go to their profiles. I'm pretty sure they all have an SDA icon, or at least they all identify themselves as Adventists in their profiles under "Church."

You can't do a search to find Adventists with a Christian icon because it will show everyone who uses a generic Christian icon.

I have placed stickies in the main forum and both sub-forums. Our temporary rules are now in effect.
