So this weekend my church went visiting another one for a youth thing, basically just church services three days in a row focusing on youth issues in the preaching and stuff. Let me tell you, the Holy Spirit was really filling that place! It's an incredibly small church, but we were still going strong until past midnight! It was a blessing, and something happened to me that I really want to know more about what it means and everything, from more experienced Pentecostals here ;)
As people were heading to the front for prayer (I had already been prayed for), I kept getting hearing the same words in my head over and over. "He's gonna use you, He's going to use you powerfully. You're an example for someone He is going to bless you so much". I started getting this almost pulling sensation in my chest, and although it has NEVER happened to me I knew almost instantly the Lord was giving me a word for someone. I'm really not the whole "God told me . . ." kind of person, so I was amazed this was happening. Then I looked around and over across the church I saw this other teenager who was sitting (I met him briefly before the service), and I knew right away to call him over. He looked really surprised but he came over and I had him sit next to me. I told him (in between tears, this was really powerful) that this NEVER happens to me, but I feel the Lord is telling me to tell you this, He is going to use you so powerfully etc etc. I gave him the biggest hug I ever gave anyone and then went to pray about it.
This was SUCH an amazing experience, I was just curious if this has happened to others. I'm sort of like "what now?", it was such a powerful and blessed experience, but now I'm just like okay do I pray for the Lord to use me like this again? Or what? Was that like Word of Knowledge or Prophecy or something?
Any words would be appreciated :wave: God Bless !!!!

I would -if we must label things lol, call it a gift of prophecy .

should you ask God to use you again like that ? my best advice at this stage of my walk with the lord is .. be willing at al times to listen .. and do .. but just continue LOving the Lord Jesus and do not be over concerned .just Continue Loving God more and more receiving his love for you .. seeking first Him.. the other things will happen as surely as an apple grows on an apple tree because the tree is an apple tree - the fruit does not try to be an apple -So it is the nature of Christ in you to bring forth the fruits of the Spirit .. just do justly .love mercy and walk humbly -loving God .for he cares for you

That would be (In the AoG) referred to as a "Burden of ministry" - the Holy Spirit decided to USE you in a Spiritual gifting.

"Burdens" normally let you know WHAT you're supposed to do ("I knew almost instantly the Lord was giving me a word for someone")., when to do it, and if it's specific (Instead of a general congregational utterance), also who to do it to ("I knew right away to call him over").

In Peter's case at the temple gate it was to tell the cripple: "silver and gold - etc." and minister healing to him.

"This was SUCH an amazing experience, I was just curious if this has happened to others."

Similar experiences have happened to me a time or two (not recently, though), and I've heard plenty of similar accounts.

I'm sort of like "what now?"

What you probably noticed was that AFTER you ministered to the "target person" - the sense of "Burden" was no longer there. You had discharged the ministry. SO what you do - it whatever you were doing before.

"do I pray for the Lord to use me like this again? Or what? Was that like Word of Knowledge or Prophecy or something?"

You can certainly pray to be used in the Gifts. BUT you need to realize that it's the HOLY SPIRIT that sends the gifts (Temporary empowerments) for the edification of the body according to HIS Schedule, and timing.

IF we were to "Categorize", what you did was definitly "Prophetic" (Forth telling), and had the character of a "Word of Knowledge". The "List of 9" in 1 Cor 12 is NOT inclusive. There are any number of "giftings" that the Holy Spirit may burden us with, as HE sees fit, and according to the situations we find ourselves in.

Congrats - the Holy Spirit gave you a ministry to perform, and you executed it properly, and obediently.

The likelihood is that there will be additional times when the Lord will come with a "Ministry burden". Just do as you're led to do. That "Pulling sensation" will be your clue that "it's time" again.

What a neat experience to have in your relationship with God.

Since you followed the leading of the Holy Spirit and spoke the words God gave you I have no doubt that God will give you another word when the time is right. Its so neat that we tend to want to do it again and again. But really its God who has the word for someone and so we should wait till God wants to speak thru us.

Very cool experience. Definitely a prophetic word, not a word of knowledge as there was nothing specific about the person that the Spirit revealed, but a wonderful word of encouragement that the Spirit wanted to convey. If it happened once, it can happen again. Just make yourself available to the Lord and let Him direct it from there. Paul advised us to seek the greater gifts, as prophecy is greater than tongues, I'd echo Paul's encouragement. You just exercised that gift, while you can't force it to happen again, you can pray for the Lord to use you more often and to teach you how to listen and operate it in. Welcome to the school of the Holy Spirit!

2 Peter 1:3-11 (like that NIV11 includes "sisters" in verse 10)

Confirming One’s Calling and Election (mediate on several translations for full benefit)

3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;
6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;
7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.
8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.
10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters,[a] make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble,
11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
