I have a problem where, for the past few months, I've been eating too much and it's been really affecting my weight. I try to control myself, but I can't help it. I feel like I'm addicted to eating food and it doesn't feel healthy.

I saw my doctor yesterday to see if I could be referred to a dietitian, but I've yet to hear back from them about any referrals. I hope I can see one soon. In the meantime, however, I'm just trying to exert more self control so I can stop eating so much.

I could use all of the prayers that I can get right now, both for a dietitian and for a new therapist, who would be able to help with my recovery as well.

Food journals are a good way to track your intake. You’ll need to do one for the dietician so she has a clearer idea of your behavior.

Although you can do it by app. Having a printed copy is helpful and you can bring it to your first visit. Here’s a free one you can download. :)

Great idea! Another good thing about completing a food diary is that you'll want it to look good and your habits might change a fair bit just because you are filling it out. Definitely try it... I may just do so as well.

Food journals are a great tool! I have to limit my caloric intake because of disability and the lack of adequate exercise, and I too find writing everything down to be a great way to stay careful...

Often we don't think about all the calories we take in, and measuring everything and writing it all down is the great equalizer!

it's one thing to look back at your breakfast and think eggs, toast and coffee, but it's a whole different ballgame when you write down

coffee - 0 calories
2 t. sugar - 70 calories
creamer - 60 calories
2 eggs - 200 calories
non-stick cooking spray - 0 calories
1 slice toast - 100 calories
1 T. margarine - 102 calories

breakfast total = 532 calories total

haha.. that just ruins your day right there!

It makes you think about what your eating and what kind of foods....

I'll keep you in my prayers for sure. :)

If you want something more detailed, I recommend The Wellness Planner or Clever Fox Food Journal. Both are very good.

If you’re struggling it helps to have someone to share with for accountability. Prayer and fasting are additional helps that make a difference.

Good luck everyone! :)

Sometimes overeating can be due to some kind of nutritional deficiency. Your body can reach out for this and that, trying to meet that need.

Also, if you are craving things like Mc Donald's and other fast foods, they do put things called "excitotoxins" into their food to stimulate overeating.
