  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My dog got bit by what the vet thinks was a scorpion. Her whole face is all swollen and she can't breath or swallow very well because of the swelling. I have been taking her in every day because they are hoping the swelling will soften enough to lance and drain, but so far that isn't happening.

This dog is very, very important to me. She is like a child to me. She has been a very good friend and companion through some very difficult times over the past 4 years and I can't stand to see her this way.

I had not been coming to CF lately, but I have nowhere else to go it seems. No one else around me seems to think it is a big deal, that she is *just a dog*. My dh is more worried about how upset I am than the dog and although he is supportive, I don't think he really understands how worried I am about her.

Please send her prayers (or positive vibes if you aren't Christian). I don't know what I am going to do if she doesn't make it.

Well, we brought her back into the vet this afternoon. They had us leave her overnight. They are going to operate on her and hopefully fix it.

Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and prayers. I am so worried for her right now. It breaks my heart to think of her there scared without me, but I know they will make her better and that she will be all the happier when it is finished....I hope.

 :(

Thanks everyone for such kind thoughts and prayers.

An update:

We brought her back to the vet yesterday. They are sure it was a scorpion bite that got infected and absessed. They operated on her this morning and she is doing OH SO much better. She can breathe again, and although she is goopy and gross, I can tell she feels so much better because she is all wiggly and boxer-like again.

She is also very happy to be home from the vet LOL. She hasn't left my side all night. I came home from dropping her off last night and I have to say, I was so afraid that something would happen during surgery and that her last thought would be that I had abandoned her. I cannot TELL you how glad I am that the worst is over.

Thanks again for all prayers. They helped, I know they did.

I'm glad your doggie baby is getting better, and I'll still pray for her. God our Healer cares about animals too. We've laid hands on a wild duck with an injured leg and prayed for healing...and the duck got well. The poor thing was in a very vulnerable position with her injured leg; she could have gotten snagged by a snapping turtle or another wild animal. But she didn't. God answers prayer even for animals. (His eye is on the sparrow.)

 and a pet for your pooch.
