  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a crush on a Pastor who was supposed to be interim but it turns out hes staying. So now I will have to battle this crush every Sunday. I mean I switched services so its a bit better but I miss his sermons cause I did grow alot Spiritually and learned alot from his sermons. I wish I didn't have this crush cause I would like to be friends with him and his wife. One friend suggested I tell this Pastor that I have a crush on him but I don't want to cause I wanna be his and his wife's friend and that won't happen if they know I have a crush on him. Another friend thinks its no big deal and that its all part of my obsession. Since I have autism I do tend to obsess over things although I try not to cause its idoltary. But they think GOD would understand that and I should just go back to his sermons. But then I thought since we are under grace and not under law should we sin all the more?? No. I think it does say in the Bible that were not supposed to take advantage of GOD's forgiveness. And I'm wondering if I went back to his sermons if it would be asking for trouble or if it would be ok. I'm not sure. I'm confused. I'm not sure what to do. I can't change Churches and there is no way I'm gonna let satan tempt me enough to stop me from going to Church. So please pray for me.

Oh sister  I think it's wise that you changed services. I highly recommend keeping that change. To put yourself in a situation where you would only foster the crush in anyway is not the most honorable of decisions. If you change services in order to avoid developing the crush any further, God, in His faithfulness will make sure you are being fed as you need.

I would say it's not the wisest to tell the pastor about your crush on him. Perhaps telling another woman who you admire and look up to spiritually about it. (Not his wife, either) Perhaps an older, wiser woman will be able to walk through this with you and keep you accountable.

I think you are on the right path with thinking that you shouldn't take advantage of God's forgiveness...and nor should we invite temptation in. Like the verse that speaks of cutting off your right hand if it causes you to sin (I believe in Matthew 5?) - we should cut temptation off at the root of it. If you cannot change churches (though I think depending on how bad the crush is it might be a wise thing to look into), changing services is definitely a great option.

And now that I've rambled...know that I am praying for you! That you would pray for your pastor and his wife and their relationship. And especially that you would become so focused on and in love with our God that you can't possibly think of your pastor anymore...

Press on towards Him, dear sister!

Lioness 901 The enemy is amazingly deceptive in his ways, he made a married woman seem so attractive, I actually went out with her for a whole year and it was extremely destructive and it's caused so much pain, and it grieved my loving god the Holy Spirit, the enemy dangles people in front of us makes the seem so attractive with the sole purpose of putting your mind on that person and taking it off god, and while we are looking at them even obsessing over them, we do not see reality and the reality is this guy is married you should be nowhere near him, if you can change services and fully surrender this to GOD, I know this will be difficult for you, but it's best in the long run, there can never be a future with this man and the more you think about this man, the less your mind is on god, I know this all to well, when I had the affair with this married woman I cared less about god and much more about her, the enemy had won me over with this woman for a whole year, a year that could have been devoted to god, you see the enemy can't take our lives but he can distract us away from our Heavenly Father, god bless you my sister, hope all goes well for you.

I am praying with you. I think avoiding the interaction is wise. Telling him may not be the best idea for several reasons. I am a guy and built different so I am clueless as to how to process this but I will be praying the Holy spirit will bless you with both strength and wisdom and that this does not stop you from attending church.
