Hello all. My name is Michael Chambers, and I am apart of ASCEND Network. God placed me in the midst of this ministry back in 2003, and I haven't been the same since. The director and I are good friends, and have been for longer than when God brought me to this ministry. Currently, I reside in Tampa, and am moving to Denver, CO to help with the growth of the ASCEND Youth Center there.
In the past, I have worked in various different ministries. At the age of 5, I enrolled with my church's children's choir. When I was 12, I taught my first Vacation Bible School class, when I was 16, I started into music and instruments for church...at 17, I worked my own bus route as well as evangelized to the community. At the age of 19, I worked with a friend of mine while I was in the NAVY, and we found a home church at the First Baptist Church of Flour Bluff in Corpus Christi, TX. Where God blessed us tremendously, was one day, he and I walked around the entire area, and spoke to kids about Christ. The first night, I remember their youth attendance was minimal at 4-5 kids each week...The week after Doug and I did that...God blessed us with 25 kids!! It was amazing!!
At 21, I met a man named Daren, and from there, my ministry experience went downhill. Daren and his wife Emily were around my age, and at this point in time, Daren is facing trial for a crime that I kept underwraps until recently, when I was asked to make a statement.
Daren introduced me to Peniel Christian School, which is a small non-denominational organization built by Ken Sortedahl, Sr. to reach out to "troubled teens". Teenagers from the ages 12-17 would go there, get an education, and at times build successful lives. I worked there as a houseparent, a teacher, a van driver, and athletics coordinator. It was a ministry I put my whole heart into, until that day that Daren's wife decided to entice me and seduce me. After it was over, Daren went overboard. For what I did not know, was that they both had done things extra-maritally on a number of occaisions. I was devistated, and still to this day, I am.
Greg, if you ever read this, I am sorry for being doubtful towards your vision.
To the Christianforums.com family, I ask for your forgiveness as well as prayers that God will provided another chance for my wife and I to serve to our fullest extent. Whatever it takes...I will do it. I just ask for your prayers. Thank you.
