SpyridionOCA, are you really Lou Dobbs in disguise? Honestly, I thought he was the only one in the country who could take any subject, ANY SUBJECT, and turn it into a rant against undocumented immigrants. You managed to do that with potato chips. If you are Lou Dobbs, you should know that I'm the one who's written repeatedly to CNN and told them that you are a one-trick pony, a thinly veiled bigot, and they should be ashamed of themselves for not yanking you off the air so fast your prejudices would spin.

Not if they are designed to enable illegal immigration. There's no reason for there to be bilingual ballots if citizenship, the right to vote, requires an understanding of the English language in the first place. It's cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, political pandering and nothing else. Are Hispanics who already know English too lazy to read it? Must we insult their intelligence?

Sometimes bilingual people favor one language over the other. Canada has English and French for instance. It's not about insulting their intelligence. Most immigrants are bilingual, and that's a lot more than can be said for your average American.

Oh, I'm glad you brought that up. You must be in full support of Gay Marriage then. Equal rights for all.

Regarding the language thing, perhaps you might want to take the opportunity to learn Spanish and better yourself. Think of what being fluent in Spanish might do for you. (Unless you already are.)

Under the tenth amendment, that's a matter for individual states to decide. I have no personal objection to granting gays civil marriage.

No, not a Wikipedia article. Have you grown up in the United States? Did you ever read American authors? Have you listened to American music, as propelled by African-Americans, Appalachians, etc.? Have you ever watched a classic American film? What do you know concerning American history?

What do you believe a "criminal" to be? Someone who doesn't speak "your" language that lives in "your" country?

Lets assume I am a criminal because I had oral sex in Maryland. And lets say I don't have "papers", and even if I did have "papers", how would you know?

They can design whatever they want for illegals. Not every moral vice should be criminalized. They shouldn't hire them. They should also understand what pandering is.

See, America has a bigoted history. We still haven't broken free from it, though it's getting a little better.

Invading and butchering Native Americans, enslaving Africans, denying women equal rights, causing a war with Mexico to take their land which they did not want to sell when we tried to buy, rounding up Japanese Americans in work camps, and denying gays and lesbians equal rights...(did I forget anyone? Probably.)

In light of this, there are still lingering issues with groups that America wronged. America has made some strides in righting these wrongs, but some of it is still going on. You can't force healing or forgetting, it has to happen on its own. Unfortunately most of the hardline behavior against our Southern neighbors has a racist overtone, even if you use your "Hispanics are not inferior" mantra.
