I am currently a freshman in college about to finish up the last semester of this year. I have absolutely NO idea what I want to do. My major has changed about 5 times since the beginning of the year. I was wanting some opinions on what you guys might suggest looking into!

I really want to do traveling, either all around the United States or around the world if possible. Annual Salary is not a big issue. I would like to make a paycheck, though. Thank you in advance for your advice!

I made a list of Interests that I have in regarding a career. I don't need them to have all these things but at least one or two would be great. Anything that includes Gods ministry is a plus but I am not currently at a Bible college. I would be willing to transfer.

Interests

  • Traveling all over the world
  • Music
  • Helping other people
  • Psychology/Mental Health
  • Aviation
  • Technology
  • Ministry

Have you considered nursing?

-Helping other people
-Still plenty of openings in mental health facilities even as other opportunities start to fill up
-Extreme needs in short-term medical missions--and often enough vacation benefits and salary to allow you to do short-term mission work

And of course, it's a relatively stable, well-paying field.

If you don't believe that mental health staff is needed, just look around the forum!

Seriously though, I think if you're not called to ministry, then don't put that on your list. Not everyone is called to be a pastor or in some paid ministerial position. I think a good Bible College can help you learn more about Christ and apply that knowledge in practical ways no matter which direction you go later. A lot of places have 1 year certificate programs that cover "the basics." That might be helpful in determining which way you want to go. Alternatively, you could do internships during the summer at a couple of places to see what the day-to-day stuff is like.

Indeed; there are way too many young Christians who get pressured into ministry degrees because it's "a Godly-like thing to do" when that's not where God is sending them. The Body of Christ needs all its parts, not just a bunch of heads.

You could be a missionary. A lot of those interests go along with some options with Wycliffe Bible Translators or Mission Aviation Fellowship... those are just the organizations I know of, there are a lot of different options.
It is definitely hard to choose a major. Try taking lower level classes in different areas you think you might be interested in. And maybe you could find a study abroad program you can participate in.
I changed my major twice between the time I applied to a college as a transfer student, and when I started attending there.

What do you like doing? What are you hobbies? I was in church about 10 years ago, and the pastor said, "Do what you love to do, and do it for God." If one of these on your list is something you love doing, take a step of faith, like a chid and let God lead the way for you. No matter what your decision, God will be there at the end of it to give you hope, and a future (Jeramiah 29:11). I am currently in your shoes in trying to figure out my major. While I signed up for Management, I am now considering Religion. Please pray for me, as I will do for you. God Bless.

I feel like those interests could cover almost anything. What do you love to do? Pick something that you enjoy and have a passion for. Don't just pick a major because someone says it might be good for you, pick something that you could imagine doing for the rest of your life.
