i need prayers for my girlfriend, Debbie - my best friend. I am not a christian, i'm agnostic and seeking but she is a christian; goes to church every sunday, helps at christian camps etc etc. She says has been struggling with confidence issues for her whole life, and self-image issues in the last few years owing to the evil that is the 'popular media'. essentially she began making herself sick, and has been struggling with what is known now between us as 'the eating thing'. for coming up to a year. Bulimia. She goes through good weeks and bad weeks, i think a lot is to do with stress as well - we recently sat our A level examinations (she's hoping to get into Cambridge - very smart) and i read somewhere that overachievers are more vulnerable to these things cause of the pressure involved with trying to live up to the 'clever' image (especially seeing as her brother currently attends Cambridge). Its a very long story, all i'm asking is for you to pray for her. I want her to be better, because i love her. I want God to do all he can for her. Theres only so much i can do, and more often than not, i'm not around in the hour or so when she needs me every now and then. please.

just to update.
She has ended with me, and broken my heart - her condition has taken over her life. we were at a party on saturday night, and she had a lot to drink (intentionally) and i just had to take care of her, took her upstairs and we had a long talk - she scared me so much, and talked about how the problem is bigger than her and she was ready to give up. she's suffering so much, been fighting it for nearly a year now, and she doesnt think she can beat it. she spoke about an article she'd read recently about a girl who'd died of heart failure owing to annorexia. she knows she's killing herself, but she cant stop it. she talked about just giving up and going crazy, taking loads of drugs '****ing everything that moves' - i know thats not her at all, she's desperate. the most disturbing thing she said was 'god's calling me'. its taken over her whole life. and destroyed our relationship. not my love for her, but our relationship. possibly for the best, she can't handle a relationship right now. she HAS to get better. but she doesnt want me to be as involved. she doesnt 'care about me' in that way anymore. broken my heart. but all i care about is her safety. we've been best friends for so many years, ive been in love with her for several and we've been together for 7 months. and now its ended and i dont know what to do. i need to care for her. i dont know what to do. i need her. i think she needs me too. at the party - she was on her way to making herself sick in the bathroom, but i managed to stop her. she'd been so good for like 3 months, and was going to throw that all away. im so worried about her. she's killing herself. i cant let her. she's talked about killing herself more directly. that. cannot happen. this hurts me all so much. i just need her to be ok. i dont know what God is doing. Is it possible to notify her parents?siblings? or anyone for counseling in her local church?any professional help?I think another person is needed to help you with debbie.Since this is extremely serious, i think you should take drastic measures.
Don't worry God is watching and caring for you both, you should focus on how to best help debbie ok.I'm praying hard for both of you.

ive told her parents all they didn't know (such as all the scary things she told me on saturday). they did know of her problems. she's had councilling for like 4 months but given that up cause she didnt think it was helping. she has prayer groups at church, but by the looks of things, they dont seem to be working either. so scared for her i cant think of anything else that can be done to save her. but im going to do everything i possibly can. if she isnt getting better, im not doing enough. she will get better, i can't let her die. just cant. not gunna happen. i have to know how though, i feel so trapped and helpless. she's so special.

God has a calling for all of us. The real test for her isn't the killing herself and the pain, but if she will keep her faith through it. That is God's test for her and you. Your test will probably be this: Will you have faith in God if she passes away? I know you don't want to think about this, but you might have to.

God cannot want someone such as her to be robbed from everyone. it can't be his will. i will fight this even if she gives up. i can't let go of her. i can't let her go. it's wrong.God cannot want this pain for her. i do not want to believe in a God that would. i need prayers for her happiness and well being. please. help

I'll keep her in my prayers, eating disorders are a very tricky and dangerouse thing. Just keep an open mind and try to be as supportive as possible with her.
