We all seem to think different things. It's so hard to know which bits are literal and which bits are metaphorical. Thanks for all your responses though, guys.

God Bless.

actually, any "thinking" on the Bible is generated by the wisdom given us by the Holy Spirit.

still wondering why you started the thread

I think my first post explains why I started the thread. I got asked a question I couldn't answer. It seems that we all are guided to different answers which satisfy ourselves. That is fine by me but I know it won't wash with the non-believers.

why do you care if it does or not?

the story of the arch is most definitely literal

you'll notice that enoch basically says so that those who are caught in the flood shall recognize their unrighteousness

it was a final wake up call then death and salvation to those who repented

http://www.heaven.net.nz/writings/thebookofenoch.htm

fascinating read that gives us insight to how heaven functions...enoch understood things about how the stars and sun and moon operate that had to be given through god

where did you get the book of Enoch?

I found it by following a sign from god(at church)

it is still included in some versions of the canon btw

http://www.heaven.net.nz/writings/thebookofenoch.htm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_enoch

While this book today is non-canonical in most Christian Churches, it was quoted as a prophetic text in the New Testament (Letter of Jude with also a probable reference in I Peter 3:19,20 to Enoch 6-36, especially 21, 6; 2 Enoch 7:1-5) and by many of the early Church Fathers. It is quoted as Scripture in the Epistle of Barnabas.[2] The Ethiopian Orthodox Church to this day regards it to be canonical.

I care because I like to be able to discuss things with people. They always say my faith is illogical and I like to prove them wrong.

you don't appear to even have an understanding of this God you speak of....why would you discuss Him?

The words of the blessing of Enoch, wherewith he blessed the elect and righteous, who will be 2
living in the day of tribulation, when all the wicked and godless are to be removed. And he took up his parable and said --Enoch a righteous man, whose eyes were opened by God, saw the vision of the Holy One in the heavens, which the angels showed me, and from them I heard everything, and from them I understood as I saw, but not for this generation, but for a remote one which is 3
for to come

I didn't even realize this the first time around

this is basically saying(imo) we are going through the tribulation

Amen. However, it's not recommended if you are shaky about your beliefs from the gitgo or if you're confused about the God you say you believe in. My question then becomes, what is the motivation for sharing at that point...seems like the witnessing is more successful coming from those posing questions to the 'witness-er' since said person is starting to say...well yeah, they did raise a good point, maybe it's not really true, but just a myth or a story, or maybe God was just joking......

The Holy Spirit needs to speak through us. We cannot do this in our own strength.

This might help clarify:

Thank you. My calling is a good and important one. But sometimes, a new believer can communicate better about matters of faith and coming to Christ than a preacher can. Sometimes people on the fence or those sincerely looking for answers but are not Christian will listen to the new believer (before he/she will go to church and listen to a pastor) and can relate better to them. :)
