  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Well that's quite a topic. Short answer would be Traditional Adventists believe very strongly in something called "The Pillars of Faith." Most importantly among these pillars, is the writing of Ellen G White one of the co-founders of Aventism.

Some on this right wing hold the writing of Ellen G White, to be a source of unquestionable prophecy, strangely in much the same way as the pope might speak; Ex Cathedra. They have even taken the extreme step of concocting something called - "The Clear Word Bible."

Thankfully many strong Adventist leaders such as Prof. Walter Veith promote the value of the King James bible.
Prof. Veith does an excellent lecture on this topic, available free on Youtube called; "Battle of The Bibles."

The right wing has a works based system, in which every choice you make has possible eternal consequences and is being thoroughly investigated as we speak. They keep strict dietary regimes and believe that going to church on Sunday is quite literally "Thee mark of the beast."

The Adventists on the far left wing, are much like evangelical Christians. They believe however that we must keep all Ten Commandments. Most prominent in the mind of the Adventist is the 4th Commandment - Keep holy The Sabbath Day, that the Lord has ordained, ie. The Jewish Sabbath not SUN day as the pagan sun god has ordained.

They'll get a bit nervous and shifty when you start talking about Ellen White and might even go so far as to imply she is a false prophet.

Most adventists fall more or less between these two groups, and will suffer more or less, the effects of the gravitational sway, of each particular pole.

There is nothiong new under the sun. "That which has been is that which shall be."

In the days of Christ there were two main divisions: the Conservatives and the Liberals. These were deeply divided and they were constantly at each other's throat so to speak. But the time came when they forgot about all their differences and they united to fight a common foe: Jesus Christ and His true disciples.

History will be repeated.

True; but I have always thought of "conservatives" and "liberals" as both being rather legalistic. They need to just settle down and be Christians. (like Christ) :)
