I am getting into starting this again.
I am going to make a utility box.
I like making boxes to fulfill specific needs.
That way I can make it just the right size for its purpose.
And I can put the color and pattern on it I want.

I have a whole set of bureau boxes.
They are different sizes and slightly different patterns with the same colors.
One I use for Q-tips, another for fingernail supplies, etc.

made some for dresser boxes few years past. They are great christmas gifts for youn ladies.....

I want to make a desk set. Have you seen any patterns for these.

I have books/mags of patterns so yeah.

I just let my mom borrow them though.

Whatever size you want or need.
I have some that are rectangular and some square.
Some tall and some short.

My mom decided she wants to do plastic canvas stationary boxes for all her grandaughters this year for christmas, she is making her own design on tops. I will create and print cards, envelopes and paper to match.

Question: have any ideas how thick to make the boxes and if should make box lid or maybe hinge lid?? any thoughts??

If you mean how high to make boxes, I would think two inches would be plenty.
Give or take up to an inch.
Just think about how much stationary might be in them at one time.

Some of my boxes I make with lids and some hinge, really personal preference.
For me I think I would make a staionary box with lid versus hinge.

Remember when cutting lid out it needs to be one square each extra on each side to fit properly on bottom part of box.

Thanks for reminding me... mom already cut and are working the tops.... but not the bottoms so will remember to cut it smalled then the top...
