I was listening to a planetshakers cd the other night, and I heard "Reflector" come on and I was like "oh my gosh, that's guy sebastian singing" and then I immediately turned it off

Guy Sebastion!!! That's it. You wouldn't get me near a place where he's singing! He comes on the TV - and the TV is turned off. I cannot bear to hear that man sing a note.
I can't understand why they have a "mosh', or, what is it? A Praise Pit? That sounds highly off to me. What is it exactly? A pit where people jump and scream their lungs out?
That's not worshipping God in Spirit and truth! That's exhibitionism! Sore calf muscles is inflicting pain on yourself!
This P/S business is highly sus to me.
One thing that turns me off is that it discriminates between young and the old.

It is actually worshipping God. Yes, we may be screaming, but we are screaming for GOD. You are not required to jump and therefore not everyone gets sore calf muscles. I myself jumped quite a lot, but did not feel any pains.

Bleh, I'm too tired to argue. I'll just end with this: you can worship God your way, and we will worship him our way. Call it suss if you want, but they are not doing anything wrong. Unless you would call gathering thousands of people under one roof, jumping and praising God with all their might, highly suss?

MOSH is an acronym for 'Masses of Seething Humanity', which originated in the late 80's heavy metal scene. It is where fans climb aboard the stage and throw themselves off as if they've had 10,000 volts shoved up their butts.
They also have the counteraction to moshing called the Moses treatment. When a mosher does it the wrong way (i.e. prone position), the crowd will part the way like the Red Sea so the guy falls splat on the ground. As a result of deaths and injuries, moshing is now forbidden in most music venues.

It is a youth orientated event.
Unforunately, there is always gonna be the generation gap unless something is done to bind the generations together again.

Young people have a lot of energy and frustration to burn, and going to an event like that helps them to get rid of some steam and peps them up to be open to listening to the gospel.

BUT unlike a lot of other rock music fests, P/S and SonFest are pretty darn strict about the bringing of alcohol and illegal drugs into their venue.

Remember kids: smoking weed and popping pills can lead to rent in arrears and no social life.

Please Bev, read my post from a couple of pages back and try to respect the way we are choosing to worship. I understand its very different to the way you worship. but its just how we find it easiest. I can worship at Planetshakers with the loud music and I can worship in my own room when its quiet....it doesnt matter cos both of those times I'm worshipping in spirit and in truth.

Please Bev, just try and respect that we are different to you in the way we act and go about things and trust us that this Planetshakers isn't suss and is making a huge impact on many young peoples life.

And just because Guy sings a song in their worship band, you wouldn't go near it? Even if the blessing of God was upon that place? Mmm...

I do understand the way you worship. But, I just don't like Guy Sebastion. I don't like his voice one little bit, and I don't like that haircut he has. Sorry to have to say that but, it's just the same as me not liking some of the Pop Bands of today like Kizz.

You missed the whole point of my post. The point of my post was not to criticize that you don't like Guy Sebastian, I understand not everyone likes him. My point of those last two lines were to say, your comment about not going near a place just cos Guy would be there is a bit weird.

Not everyone is "happy" as you say. Most are just content with life as it is. We want people to come to know God so that they may be saved from Hell.

We are also helping to clean up the streets by converting people to Christ.

I just wish that someone would please close this thread. I am tired of hearing about it. It seems that some have been offended by what is going on in here and I can't blame them.

To be totally honest, I am a fan of Guy but can understand why some people arent. It's really hilarious to hear my 3 yo in the car the other day when one of his songs came on saying "turn it up, it's Guy Sebasmen" ROFL. We all have different tastes and that's why its good that we have so much choice in what we CHOOSE to listen to.

I can understand why some people like Planet shakers, it's not my thing anymore, but I remember going to Youth Alive 10 years ago and imagine PS to be somewhat similar so I can understand why people like it.

I do believe that when in the presence of God there is a certain respect for the Holy Spirit that needs to be maintained. If that makes me old fuddy duddy than so be it. I know who I am in God.

This is all I have to say on the matter, so if you want to argue with me, go ahead because chances are I won't be reading it.

Ageism isn't an issue, denomination isn't an issue, theology isnt an issue.

My favourite speaker (Reggie Dabbs is 50+) and he was there for every session worshiping God, listening to teh speakers and being blessed.

a couple of years ago they had sometthing like 700 or so youth delegates from the Salvation Army.

The preaching is very passionate but also very biblical and solid. Every sermon there was scripture quoted and expounded apon, it's not just some hyped up motivational speakers.

Personal preferences about the way you are used to, and like, 'doing church' and your attitude are IMO the only things that could hold you back at Planetshakers.
