  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm just reading Dan Brown's "DaVinci Code" and in there is a stement that you can build 92 English words of varying length from the letters of the word "planets".

So far I have come up with the following (and I am not sure if plurals are included in the 92 or not):

1a2ale3an4ant5ants6ape7apes8apt9as10at11ate12lane13lanes14lap (round)15lap (to lay your head in)16lap (verb)17laps (rounds)18last19lent20lest21let22nap23net24nets25pane26pants27pat28pen29pest30pet31pets32plane (airplane)33plane (level)34planes (airplanes)35planes (levels)36planet37plea38pleas39sale40sane41sea42set43slap44slate45span46steal47step48step49tale50tales51tap52tea53teal54teas

I cannot find any more :(

heh i'm reading it too and wondered if anyone else who had read it had sat down trying to do exactly this:p

Me!;)

Unfortunately the sentence in the books doesn't make it apparent if redundant word (like plurals) are allowed or not. But since "ants" is as good an English word as "ant" I think they should be counted!:p
