  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My dad used to smoke pipes. I can still see him "polishing" them by rubbing them on the side of his nose. Facial oils? Eventually he turned to cigarettes, more convenient I think. He once talked about his dad who could roll a cigarette one handed while on horse back...don't know if that is true. When he was much older I was filling out a medical form for him and asked him how long had he been smoking? He thought a bit and said "A bit over 76 years and if I quit it will kill me." Yes, he was a very stubborn man!

Many years ago while visiting my father in a veterans hospital I met a vet who was a triple amputee. I don't think that he could sit a horse but, man was he adept at rolling a smoke!

I used to smoke a pipe. Haven't done that for maybe 30 years. Just put it down one day, and never picked it up again. I still love the smell of tobacco, though.

My blend was equal measures of cube-cut burley, honey cavendish and Latakia.

I used to, years ago. Mostly Peterson's or Falcon pipes. It was a take it or leave it thing for me, and I didn't stick with it.

Vaping was alot more fun. You get to retain your sense of taste and smell, and no burn holes in your clothes.

I've smoked a hookah a few times before in the past, too, something I would definitely not recommend (if you inhale, it has alot more carbon monoxide than cigarettes and you will notice it too). Vaping is very similar.

Santa Claus smokes a pipe...

Gandalf too.

But the mirsham pipes are the really expensive ones. (Can't remember how to spell it)

All kinds of various hardwoods go into pipes...then the mouthpieces can vary as well.

The larger pipes last longer as you smoke them a bit longer than a small one.

Also...

Have a rotation of pipes you smoke...

Pipe tobacco has a lot of moisture. As you subject your pipe to the constant heat and moisture they can crack...so if you let them rest for a bit they dry back out and are good to go. But a new pipe takes a bowl or two to break in well.
