  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Pink, anyone?

What do you think when men wear the color pink?

  • It's great! Awesome color!

  • I don't have a problem with it, but I don't wear it.

  • Umm, feminine?!?

  • I would never wear pink or let my son/husband/etc. wear pink either.

Okay! I have a question for all of you! I have some very stong opinions on this topic :D (alright, so my opinions are always too strong;) ) and I was wondering what everyone in SR thought about it as well.

Ladies, do you like it when men wear pink?

Men, would/do you wear pink?

When I say pink, I mean like pink shirts, ties, etc. You see, my church is known as a church where a lot of men wear pink, lavendar, purple, light pink, dark pink, magenta, etc. Do you think that it is feminine or alright?

Pink is certainly not one of my favorite colors. Too much pink on anybody makes me nauseous. I don't wear it, because I don't like it and I don't look too great in bright colors. I mostly wear black, dark blue, dark green, gray, brown... that kind of stuff. Maybe a guy with pink in the tie is alright, but I am not a fan of the color. I tend to think that it is effeminate. I don't mind purple so much.

I don't like it at all when men wear pink. Of course it is only a color and I don't think it is bad in itself ;) , but men {At least younger men} usually only wear pink because they are trying to make a statement {What statement that is I wouldn't really like to know}, because they know it is outside the norm. That bothers me.

So I voted that I would not ever let my huband or son wear pink. I personally think it looks tacky, and could possibly give the wrong impression about a man {Depending on how old he is, or where he is, or what else he is wearing}. As for purple or magenta or whatever, I think the same would apply, though I don't think it is as extreme as pink. Not that I'm knocking anyone down for wearing those colors...

God Bless,
Erin

 If my boyfriend ever wore pink, Id probably tell him he looks like a girl. Ive always had a huge issue with guys wearing the color pink. Its like a guy wearing a skirt, just too girly for a guy.
Hey, if a guy wants to look like a girl, then fine. Go for it.
Im just a girl who doesn't like a guy in pink.

You know, some wear a lavender shirt with a pink tie. . .and then the looonng hair. . .

Confession: I used to have long hair. I used to work at the medieval faire, and it suited me. Plus, a lot of the guys on the fencing team were doing it. We were pirates, you see.

Lavender shirt and pink tie? That's not just feminine, that's sick.

Erin,

When men get a certain age and/or maturity level, we have no need to "prove our masculinity". i'm secure enough in who and what i am such that i do not worry about what somebody thinks of my clothing choices. If a man looks good in pink, more power to him, i don't think him any less a man because of a colour choice.

Anyone that thinks he has something to prove in that respect probably does...to himself.

Pink is cool, but I don't usually wear great amounts of it myself. a retired pastor at our church often wears pink, lavender, or purple shirts and ties, and another pastor I know even wore a purple tie to preach.
but personally, I'm more a blue-type guy, I like blue, green, and silver.

Shouldn't you be studying for finals instead of contemplating whether or not Pink is appropriate for men's fashion?

So yeah, I am wearing a pink hollister shirt right now (it is my only Hollister shirt, got it from a friend). There are some guys who where pink that I think are just idiotic (like that "tough men wear pink" shirt-over worn) and there are some who I think can pull it off. Hopefully I can pull it off.
But I too thought this thread would be about the Theologian Pink, not the color.

I remember being told I had to wear a pink rain coat to school (I was about 8 ?)

of course I refused , but my Mother insisted , then my Dad asked what we were arguing about , I told him that as soon as I was out in the rain , this rain coat was coming off.......... my Mother said "it better hadn't"

My dad said , "he is not wearing Pink'!!!

and my mother relunctantly agreed.

Thanks Dad!!!

Your dad is a good man. :)

For my part I think that no REAL man would ever wear pink. ;)

Would you put your infant son in pink PJ's?.... I think not.
