  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Pink, anyone?

What do you think when men wear the color pink?

  • It's great! Awesome color!

  • I don't have a problem with it, but I don't wear it.

  • Umm, feminine?!?

  • I would never wear pink or let my son/husband/etc. wear pink either.

I have no problem with the color per se....however, funny story....

My daughter drives a pearl white Toyota Rav4 with the interior decked out in pink! She was blocking me in one day when I needed to dash to the bank before it closed. Now I was wearing a magenta dress shirt with a magenta and pinkish tie with tan slacks just coming off of work, you see. I pull into the drive-thru at the bank (in her car) and a rather effeminate male teller takes note and declares at the top of his voice.....OH MY!

Oh well,.... If I need her car, I do remove the fluffy pink steering wheel cover now....

I have hated pink for as long as I could remember. I was tomboy, and NO WAY was i gonna be seen in anything girlie! :p

anyway, I still don't like pink, so my husband can't wear it. Now purple, that's a whole different story. As long as it's dark purple! :) He has several dark purple shirts, and I love them.

I've seen guys that look good in pink, and I've seen guys that don't. As long as it's not in MY house, it's fine! LOL

Shouldn't you be studying for finals instead of contemplating whether or not Pink is appropriate for men's fashion?

Well. . .I had about two hours in between exams. Some of my friends wear pink. . .I think they do it just to irritate me sometimes  . But, there are some pink ties that I really like. . .not the pastel pinks, though.

This cracked me up.

I don't mind pink. I have considered a pink polo shirt for my youngest in particular - he looks good with a collar. I got green instead though, cause dh is just not won over on pink for his boys.

I don't think I would put my eldest in pink - he used to get mistaken as a girl on a regular basis when he was younger - wouldn't like to repeat that now he's a little older and might understand a bit more.

I should have known it was about the color. I love it. I wear it, but it doesn't suit my hubs. It's not his color, but my neighbors hub looks great in it.

LOL, I first thought this was about Pink instead of pink....

Pink for men is one of those "trendy" things. Back in the 80s, it was fashionable for men to wear it. I'm not very fond of it today though. I don't mind a purple or lavendar shirt on a guy, esp. if it is a shirt with a nice suit. It just depends, I have seen some done very well.

LOL Actually I can handle the 'pink' more easily than the long hair!

Yeah, me too. In my opinion, men with short hair wearing pink look more manly than men with long hair wearing any other color. . .especially if it comes with the earring combo . I saw this guy last night who had one really thick silver hoop earing in each ear!

What about the following? A man at work told me that his son, who attends the local public highschool, told him about this boy who wears those really long shirts (the ones that go almost to the ankles) with pants that go half-way up to the knees. How does he hold them up? A belt is tightly fastened below the knee where the pants come up. . .the man said that his son told him that the boy just waddles around school. :D

Go ahead and wear the pink shirt, but don't be like that boy!

Hahaha! :D Oh my goodness, you have no idea how many people I see walking around like that here where I live! I'd have to say I would rather have my husband wear pink than look like THAT!

Okay! I have a question for all of you! I have some very stong opinions on this topic :D (alright, so my opinions are always too strong;) ) and I was wondering what everyone in SR thought about it as well.

Ladies, do you like it when men wear pink?

Men, would/do you wear pink?

When I say pink, I mean like pink shirts, ties, etc. You see, my church is known as a church where a lot of men wear pink, lavendar, purple, light pink, dark pink, magenta, etc. Do you think that it is feminine or alright?

IMHO:

PINK is a very feminine color!!...

I believe we should think about the symbolism here... Traditionally, when Mothers give birth, they will dress little girls in pink and boys in blue...

What Mother Would Dress Her Baby Boy in PINK??!!

I believe we are sending a strong message when we dress our Heterosexual Men in PINK!! ~I wear pink an NO MEN I KNOW wear pink!! Thank God !!

Well... I'm another person who was fooled by the topic title. I guess it would have been silly to poll people on whether or not they liked A.W. Pink. Like, in the Reformed forums? What were you thinking? Duh!

But yes, I have one pink shirt that I have not worn for a while. I'll have to say that if it's a guy shirt, then sure, the guy can wear it, usually regardless of the color (if it's obnoxiously pink, then forget it). But, um... frilly? Or tight? Or short? Or anything that would look immodest on a girl? Guys--steer clear. ...please.

Paul Neuman and Robert Redford in The Sting, 1973. One could hardly argue that either of those guys were feminine.

As with any other colour, it may work for some guys, and not work for others. As for masculinity arguments, well i really don't have anything that i would have to prove. If a guy is insecure about a colour making him less than a man, then he's got other issues besides a colour.
