He took the ship into a situation and surrendered it.

I never watched after that.

Kirk almost destroyed the Enterprise many times.
Piccard got his ship and surrendered to the first conflict.

I don't know Q, so I don't know his strengths or weakness. All I know is Kirk took 20 years to surrender the Enterprise, Piccard the first episode.

Piccards ship wasn't a starship but a science vessel.
By the time the ship seperated they would be destroyed. The old Enterprise could have destroyed Pickards ship while it seperated. Killing a whole lot more then the 400 crew on the old Enterprise.
Didn't like much of the new Star trek shows.
I find your lack of Star Trek knowledge...disturbing.
;)

Um, what exactly were Picard's options? We're talking about Q here!
;)
He didn't know what his options were, and didn't care to find out. As far as he knew, at that point, he was facing The Squire of Gothos.

I wonder what took the most effort for the "writers" scanning the scripts in, or cutting and pasting and modifyng the dialog with TNI jargon.

If you didn't see any episodes after that you didn't miss much until the middle of the third season. There were a few attempts at developing the new doctor, (Diana Muldur), in the second season where they departed from recycling Star Trek scripts to recycling "B" mystery stories. But Gates McFadden wanted back in, and I guess having a good actress made the others look bad, so Muldur went away.

Kirk's Enterprise was an exploration ship, with weaponry. I can't figure out what Piccard's Enterprise was, since the only time they went outside of well-established Federation territory they were kicking and cratching the whole way, without any choice in the matter, but they sure were well-armed for whatever it was.
