Physical & Life Sciences Statement of Purpose

The Physical & Life Sciences forum is a discussion and debate area on physics, biology, chemistry and other physical sciences. Other physical sciences may include but is not limited to astronomy, earth science, archeology, climate change, ecology, geology, oceanography and energy.

Physical Sciences address the nature and properties of non-living systems while life sciences address the nature and properties of living matter. This may include the way two or more of these have an effect on each other between observation, theory, deduction and application.

Remember to quote sources if applicable. When copying a portion of an article or informational piece, remember the copyright limits outlined by CF as well as the copyright stipulations of the article publisher.

Do not flame other views. Christianity cannot be called a myth, and science cannot be called a religion or made up. Threads started, or responses made, to simply disparage science will be considered off topic to the forum.

Creation and Evolution discussions are off topic to this main forum, and should be started in the sub-forum, Creation & Evolution.

Handling Disagreements

Members who participate in the Physical & Life Sciences forum are expected to treat one another with courtesy and respect at all times, ESPECIALLY when you disagree with each other. It is not a flame for a member to disagree with another member's argument or opinion on a specific topic.

  • When you disagree, address the content of the post and not the poster.
  • When you disagree with someone's position, you should post evidence and supporting statements for your position. This policy, sometimes referred to as "X means Y because of Z", must be followed especially when posting claims that are widely considered to be controversial.
  • When you disagree and you find yourself becoming frustrated and angry, step away from the computer and give yourself time to cool down.
  • Always proofread your post before hitting the "Reply" button to make sure you have responded with courtesy and respect.
All posts are expected to be in compliance with the site rules as well as the the Guidelines for all Discussion and Debate Forums.

Additional Guidelines

Off Topic Threads: Make sure that you are posting within the purpose of the forum. To prevent off topic threads, make your OP clear and ask questions or make statements that address one of the physical and life science topics. Discussions on Bible codes and other similar threads are off topic to this forum.

Thread Tags: Thread tags are relevant keywords or terms that relate to the topic and/or content of a thread. Tags enable you to find other threads which address the same topic as tagged by other members. Tags are not for flaming or rude comments. The CF site wide rules apply to tags and tags which violate the rules may receive staff actions. Staff are able to see who posted a thread tag. While we want to encourage everyone to tag threads and contribute to the system, please think before you tag.

Homosexuality, Same-Sex Marriage, Bisexuality and Transgenderism/Transexualism: Discussion of these topics must comply with the sitewide rule barring the promotion of homosexuality, same-sex marriage, bisexuality, and transgenderism/transexualism. Discussion and debate should only be directed toward political, legal, historical and civil rights issues, and should not be directed toward the morality of homosexuality, same-sex marriage, bisexuality or transgenderism/transexualism.

General Apologetics: This is not a forum where Christians are asked to defend their faith against objections and criticism from non-believers. Non-Christians are not allowed to challenge Christian theology, beliefs and practices here or in any forum at Christianforums.

CF staff reserves the right to edit, remove, move or close any thread when deemed necessary.

If you have issues with another member and can't work it out or are disgruntled about a staff decision, please click on the "Support" tab in the header navigation bar, or "Contact Us" at the bottom of the page, and open a new support ticket. Discussion of members or staff actions in the forums is considered disruptive and can result in additional staff actions.
