Philippians 4

Hi, in my Christian Club, we are going through Philippians. This week, we are finishing it up with Chapter 4. I just wanted to see if anyone here had any helpful insights on this that would be important to point out or any general main points that you may have picked up from your perspective.

philippians 4:1 my joy [ 3 jn 3-4 ] crown [1 thes 2:19] stand fast [phil 3:3,14-15, 20.. col 3:3-1-3]

personel problems not spiritual.... phil 2:2


phil 4:4 rejoice in the Lord [postional.. eph 1..., 1thes 5:16]

phil 4:5 my bible has gentleness... but the word is forbearance..... col 3:13

phil 4:6 -7 major bad translation

Phil 4:6 Be anxious for nothing[1 peter 5:5-9] but in everything by #2 prayer[worship... same word in john 4:24, 1 thes 5:17] and#3 supplication[1/8 forms of prayer] , after #1 thanksgiving, let your #4 requests be made known to God.

these are four different forms of prayerand the order to battle worry..

phil 4:7 and the peace from God, which covers over all your mind, will guard your hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus.. [eph 4:23]

phil 4:8 true[phil 1:6] noble [col 3:1-3] just [phil 1:6] pure [james 4:17-18] good report [phil 1:18] praise worthy [phil 2:27]

phil 4:9 ...saw in me.. [1 thes 2:7-9, acts 15:39, 2 tim 4:11]

phil 4:11 content [1 tim 6:6-8, heb 13:5]
I know how to be lacking and abounding ... thanks to be to God for BOTH

I have learn[ the secret mystery] both to be full and hungry

phil 4:13 I have active strength in Christ that gives me power

how? first remember romans 6 dead positionally in Christ and resurrected in Christ 1 cor 7:20-24

col 3:1-3, 2 tim 2:1, 2 cor 12:9, eph 3:16-20, eph 4:23, eph 3:2,4,8-10

Phil 4:14 in my distress[ paul is in Rome under house arrest in Ceazars ..nero!]

phil 4:16 sent aide #1 once and #2 again for my [physcial] necessities [2 cor 8:2-5] 110 miles in between 3 weeks here!

Phil 4:18 connects with vs 16

phil 4:19 But my God shall [fill full] supply all your [mental] needs according to His riches [NT eph 2:7... OT deut 28:1-2] in glory[eph 3:16-19] by Christ Jesus

1 tim 6:6, phil 4:11, heb 4:9-10,16, 2 peter 1:3

my thoughts of philipians4that paul wants us and is encourageingus to stand frim in the lord
v4 that we should not be anxious for nothing but that we should rejoiceand be in prayer

Philippians 4:

Note 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord! I will say it again, rejoice!
This is amazing, because Paul is in prison while writing this letter, but still findsjoy, because his Joy is in the Lord.

note also, 4:8-9 :"Whatever is true, noble, right, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things. What you have learned from me, put it into practice." my paraphrase.

In a society which is increasingly hostile and negative, where we are encouraged to consider things which are far from noble, right, excellent and praiseworthy (Big brother is on in Australia at the moment) it is worthwhile considering this to be a life verse.

Philippians 4 is a way cool way to wind up a Club.
