  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you currently have a pet? If not or even if you do what kind of pets do you want to have in the future?

Right now I have a pet tabby named Shuji. In the future I would like to have a dog. I really love beagles, Siberian huskies and German Shepards-but I'll probably adopt a dog from the SPCA. I might get other animals like a fish or lizard.
My family has a westie, but when I move out I don't plan to ever get pets. They're cute and fun, but they make traveling inconveniant.

Currently my husband and I are in transition, so I will tell you about the pet I used to have.

This is Alex, my Bichon Frise that I raised from puppyhood. I got him when I was 15, so I've been in and out of his life for the last 7 years or so. He lives with my mom.

I grew up without pets (eight kids was enough chaos in a house ^_^) and still don't have any.

Dogs terrify me...don't know why, they just always have.

Cats are okay..

but someday I would LOVE a bunny!

You come from a family of 8 too? Hey, join the club! :D

We had a pet bunny once but he ended up escaping! Don't ask how! We'd been out spotlighting and the boys had taken some bows and arrows to hunt some rabbit and the mother and scooted but the baby had frozen in fright and was sitting right beside his foot! LOL! So, we couldn't kill the baby and kept him.

Dogs are great - so long as it is one of those useful dogs! I don't have a liking for pooches like poodles and chiawawas and those sorts. I like your farm or hunting dogs like Anatolians, Maramers, Blueys (bluey is our word for cattle dogs), and Malamutes!

And I hate cats!!! :sorry:

In the future I'm hoping to get me a cat. Unfortunately, i'd have to get my own place and dig myself out of this 25K debt i'm in before even considering getting ANY pet.
as to what breed, probably an american shorthair. My ex-roommates had 1. He was rather low maintenance , and always happy to sit with you while ya play video games after a horrible day at work.

Only thing is it'd have to be trained/housebroken or able to be trained. Kitty poo on the floor 1st thing in the morn is NOT pleasant. Not saying the little fella'd have to be a kitten though [older cats make good companions too].
