Dumb. Of course they should be able to. I think the problem is is that FB policy is legal birth names, iirc.

When contacted by those who's profiles have been blocked, FB demands that they turn over copies of their passport, driver's licenses, or some other form of government ID before allowing access to their FB profile.

Is there a way for us to contact FB directly?
If you guys have not seen "The Network" the movie about Mark Zuckerberg and how FB started. You should. The movie interestingly enough, does not show Mark Zuckerberg in a favorable light. It shows him as a real jerk to everyone around him. When asked about how he was portrayed in the movie, Zuckerberg said he didn't care.
Just to show what kind of a person and establishment we're up against.
FB has been sued so many times by so many people.
There is an Orthodox social network out there, I can't remember what it's called. Perhaps the clergy should have profiles there instead of on FB?
I'm not saying we should aquiesce to FB, I think we should fight it, but we need to keep in mind that for better or for worst, (more for the worst) FB is a very powerful entity and it just may not be worth it for the long run.

I'm agnostic about the whole "Father" issue on facebook names, but I definitely think that monastics should be able to go by what they're known as. Abbot Tryphon is not known as anything other than that, like, anywhere.

Well, maybe just 'Tryphon'.
Nothing stopping someone from listing 'clergyperson at N church' or 'religious at N house' in their employment section of FB. (I know it isn't employment.)
But then, I have been grossly scarred by clericalISM, Titles being problematic in that.
What about secular titles? I know it isn't a thing in the USofA, but here in UK there are too many knights and lords, would disturb the egality of the site to have one's friends publically setting themselves by the accident of their birth.
Anyway, I know many people on fb (mostly defriended) who call themselves 'Fr'. They just stick it to their first name, for example: "FrRichard".
Father is not a title. By which I mean, it is not something one is expected to call a clergy person, it is an honour they are given in gratitude from their flock (or so I heard on AFR). Hearing that greatly helped to salve some wounds.
