Its funny about him because his commercials were also playing within the casino I work at (I work as a busser and have nothing to do with the gambling aspects of the place)

That´s what I heard, "Business is better than ever!" This morning I watched some old online interviews and couple of them were on Tammy Faye Bakker Messner...google them or watch via tvinterviewsarchive.blogspot.com. Myself, I never heard of Popoff.

As far as I can tell, Peter Popoff or his company People United for Christ Inc. are not listed as members of the Evangelical Council For Financial Accountability http://www.ecfa.org/Default.aspx. ECFA's statement of purpose includes the following:
Now non-charitable organizations may not be listed here, but I would expect that a Christian organization that solicits donations from the public should follow the same principles that ECFA promotes in terms of transparent accountability and adherence to certain standards.
I would be very cautious about supporting any Christian organization that is not a member of ECFA, and can't give you a good reason for not doing so.
