In 2023 - while Biden was President - not Trump How does it pertain? it is the SAME Act you are castigating Trump for - same name - same identifier. That is how it pertains to it.

Right similar to - but NOT the Act passed in 2017 - that is the point that is so very inconvenient to your accusation

Pete Hegseth (who is still there), is not being challenged for changing the ACT - why? Because he didn't - he ended the program passed in 2023 that amplified DEI policies. See the mocking posts in the beginning of this thread have fallen completely apart when you realize the truth.
Again, that 2023 plan was at State, not DOD.

But to your main point - Hegseth's original Twitter post did not at all make a distinction between the 2017 law and subsequent implementations of it. It was only two hours after his initial post, and after multiple respondents pointed out that the law was signed by Trump that he tried to make a distinction between the original law that he deemed okay, and Biden's alleged "weaponization" and "ruin[ing]" of it.

One wonders why, if the original law was okay, he didn't just rework the implementation instead of casting aspersions on his boss' work.

Still bothers you, aye. There are probably a lot more parents of the young liberals today who fit into this category.

I don't know about that. There have always been plenty of Republicans. My family was Republican going back to the 19th century, at least on my father's side. FWIW, Hillary Clinton also came from a similar Republican family, but her politics changed in the late 1960's, and she aligned more with the New Left, which focused on peace activism and human rights/human development. Before the gradual shift starting in the 60's with Barry Goldwater, Republicans had been a big tent political party, mostly made of business interests (small and large), African Americans, the descendants of white yeoman farmers (like my own family) in the Midwest, Appalachia, and the Ozarks, and a few lingering holdouts from the Progressive era in the late 19th and early 20th century.

As the Republican Party began its change after Goldwater and started to become narrowly ideological, more moderates left. My parents never left, they changed as the party changed, despite once being political moderates themselves (they used to be pro-choice Republicans, which was a fairly common stance at one time). Probably because they have always been very tribalistic about their politics, something that goes back to at least my grandfather.

I have no problems with people changing political parties. My problem is with politicians changing party affiliation in order to be elected then rebranding the party to a personality cult. Reagan switched parties but behaved like and embraced what the Republican party once stood for.
People were craving to buy what Trump is offering anyway.

He didn't read the title of the thread - yeesh, how many times does it have to be said -

Pete Hegseth (he is still there) did not - change the law passed in 2017 - he doesn't have the ability to and no one is saying he did. He ended the PROGRAM (read the title and OP) from 2023.

lol, The only person in this exchange who’s failed to read and comprehend anything is you. Several of us have now responded to this claim of yours. I even addressed it in the post of mine you quoted, in the section you left out. Are you not reading all of the comments before replying?

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Tuesday bragged about ending a military program he described as “yet another woke divisive/social justice/Biden initiative.”
Program - not act

Title of the thread -

Pete Hegseth Ends “Woke” Military Program...

Or.... there is window number four that allows you to see the link to the actual facts

The U.S. Strategy and National Action Plan on WPS was released on October 31, 2023. The launch coincided with the celebration of the 23rd anniversary of the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325, the landmark resolution on WPS (2000). As the first country to adopt a comprehensive law on WPS (Women, Peace, and Security Act of 2017), the United States is committed to upholding UNSCR 1325’s premise that the core WPS principles of women’s participation and protection are critical for effective conflict prevention and resolution, for peacebuilding, and for peacekeeping efforts.
The 2023 Strategy builds on prior U.S. commitments to advance women’s safety and meaningful participation in peace, political, and security decision-making processes. This Strategy further supports the Administration’s historic advances in strengthening women’s meaningful participation in national security, defense, and political leadership—at home and abroad.
In other words - the ACTION Plan was released AFTER the 2017 Act was in place.
What did the plan add?

This Strategy and NAP is structured under five Lines of Effort (LOEs):

  • LOE 1: Participation – Seek and Support the preparation and meaningful participation of women and girls in all their diversity in civic and political leadership, in informal and formal decision-making processes, and in institutions related to peace and security.
  • LOE 2: Protection – Promote the protection of human rights for all people, bearing in mind gender, and prevent and respond to all forms of gender-based violence in conflict and crisis contexts, including conflict-related sexual violence.
  • LOE 3: Relief, Response, and Recovery – Prioritize the integration of gender-responsive policies and programs to support the safety, participation, and leadership of women and girls in U.S. government responses to conflict, crises, and disasters; reinforce women’s agency and decision-making at every-level of relief, response, and recovery efforts; and provide safe, equitable access to humanitarian assistance.
  • LOE 4: Integration and Institutionalization – Integrate WPS principles across U.S. policies and programming to strengthen the institutionalization of comprehensive gender analyses and improve gender equality outcomes.
  • LOE 5: Partnerships – Encourage partners to mainstream WPS principles across policies and strategies and strengthen capacity to improve gender equality in processes and institutions connected to peace and security decision-making.

It's so important to actually look at the information, so you know you are not being lied to - Defense Secretary Hegseth, who is still in office, ended this woke action plan.

Read - inform yourself - don't fall for anything because some website says so.
Pete Hegseth (he is still in office), CANNOT stop the Act that President Trump got passed - No one, except posters here, are saying he did or attempted to - that is simple fact

He did stop the program.

Why do you keep repeating that without addressing the points that I've made?
