He was responsible for what he did while president in this case. We as the US were no longer responsible for Afganistan. They had plenty of time to be able to build a government and military to.protect themselves. Although i will.say that he was wrong not to include the Afghan government in the talks. I will say that was a failure on his part in my opinion. But getting out was not.

Trump.wanting to get out was the right thing to do. But he wasn't responsible for how it went down. He wasn't in office. Biden was. How it went down and the failures involved was on him.because he was the Chief in charge. He could have put together a plan that worked. He didn't. He failed. Biden could have easily told rhe Taliban that any insurgency before the withdrawl would not be tolerated and would nullify any agreement and would be met with force. That would have allowed us to move out without the issues we saw. We could have taken out equipment with us and gotten all troops and Americans out. Biden failed, plain and simple.
You break it, you fix it. Yes we were responsible for Afghanistan once we invaded. And yes, when you embolden your enemy by releasing 5k of them out of jail along with the leader who took reigns, then expect mayhem. Trump et al did set up milestones the Taliban were suppose to do since he released them out of jail. They did none of those. Again, Trump set the building of fire, with no plans to put it out, left it up to the follow on fire brigade, and then people point at their failure.

The Senate voted to confirm President Donald Trump's nominee, Pete Hegseth, as defense secretary on Friday night after a high-tempered battle to sway lawmakers in his favor that was almost derailed by accusations about his behavior.
The final vote came down to the wire: three Republicans opposed, making for a 50 to 50 vote. Vice President JD Vance was needed to break the tie in the upper chamber, putting the final tally at 51-50.
"Congratulations to Pete Hegseth. He will make a great Secretary of Defense!" Trump wrote on Truth Social after Hegseth's confirmation.

The Senate’s two moderate Republican women: Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, and Susan Collins, R-Maine, voted no. As did Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the former GOP leader.

Concerned Veterans for America (CVA), the nonprofit advocacy group at the center of many of the accusations brought up during Hegseth's confirmation hearing, praised his confirmation in a statement.
"The confirmation of Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense presents a real opportunity to prioritize the security and prosperity of our citizens, champion prudence and effectiveness in our defense strategy, and focus our Department of Defense on America’s most vital interests," the statement read.

I am very thankful and giving praise to the Lord Jesus Christ that Pete Hegseth is now the Secretary of Defense.

Pete Hegseth's podcaster younger brother serving key Pentagon role

Phil Hegseth, the brother of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, has a key role in the Pentagon as a Department of Homeland Security liaison and senior adviser, the Pentagon confirmed

This isn't the first time Phil has collaborated with his elder brother. When Pete was CEO of Concerned Veterans for America, a nonprofit that faced financial troubles during his tenure, he paid his brother $108,000 for handling the organization's media relations, as per federal tax records.

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed Phil's job title in a statement, noting that this "interagency mission is part of Mr. Hegseth's preview," presumably meaning "purview."

Phil has been a steadfast supporter of his brother, often seen accompanying him during his tense confirmation process in the Senate.

An organizational chart obtained by The Associated Press shows Phil Hegseth positioned directly beneath his brother in a small group of officials, with Phil labeled as a senior adviser to the defense secretary. Whether Phil Hegseth's appointment contravenes federal nepotism laws would require further investigation.

Nepotism, and thus the reason why there is such a thing called DEI.

People can be opposed to Nepotism without supporting DEI.
You sure can!
But the most qualified person for the job of “senior adviser to the secretary for DHS and liaison officer to the Defense Department,” just happens to be the Secretary of Defense’s brother!

This is the very point of the anti-DEI crowd, getting a job because of WHO YOU ARE not on what qualifications you have.

Phil did a good job sponging off the donors for Pete's veterans' group. He's well qualified to sponge off We The People.

Phil makes Pete look downright qualified.

I hear no opposition to any forms nepotism which is far more rampant and harmful to others than the idea of opening up opportunities for everyone. DEI is the opposite of nepotism.
