That's mine too. Fortunately, my browser has a spell check on it, so I can double check my typing. All throughout my life my biggest pet peeve has been when I read someone's writing, whether it be online, in a magazine or newspaper and there are errors!!
I've always wondered if these people don't care enough to have their work proofread. I'm no English scholar by any means but I feel that if I'm going to do something, the least I can do is do it correctly or not at all.
More often than not, people are careless and inconsiderate of others when they cannot spell or don't take the initiative to do a good job on their work. Misspellings, incorrect usage or bad grammar really makes me look at the author of said article and wonder how professional or how well they know their material.
You don't have to have an English major to be proper.
What is your pet peeve?
That is terrible. My husband's grandmother was that way, but his mother really criticized her, even after her death. Fortunately, she kept her mouth shut at the funeral. My pet peeve is when people come to a funeral and bad mouth the person who died. '
Or when they get up to say a few words about the dearly departed and instead preach about hell and damnation.
This happened at my grandmothers funeral this year. ...And that is why I want to be cremated, with just my immediate family coming together for each other...if they want to. If something like this could happen for someone as godly and sweet spirited as my grandmother... Why wouldn't it happen to me? I just don't want my children or grandchildren to ever have to feel like I did. It wasn't right.
