Not to say that we should disregard it, but that it is likely too great a burden to bear for most of us. I believe it still wise to study for understanding the nature of purity.

I admit that sometimes I ask rhetorical questions. But there are a few, especially one, that I am repeatedly asking you that I really would like answered.
AS I SAID, the scholars seem to agree that this verse in Leviticus falls under the purity code violations that we do not follow anymore. The Mosaic law is the only thing to be concerned with.

You have only quoted one guy, Tony Campolo, and he is NOT a Bible or Greek scholar. He is a retired sociology professor and no more qualified as an authority on Greek scholarship than you are to perform open heart surgery.
And the Jews do NOT now and have never dismissed the condemnation of sodomy/homosexuality as part of a purity code and not binding. That is a false concoction by people who know nothing about Hebrew or the Jewish faith.

Also, there is no verse that says "thou shall not lie with womankind as with mankind, it is abomination". (for lesbians). This chapter is very specific about what is wrong. If the standard was set for US, then it would've been written back then, too.

None of the other verses say it is "ritual impurity".To answer your question, it is a morality issue with the verse you asked me about. It is very wrong to cause rivalry between sisters over a man. It is wrong to do this with any people, but with sisters you cause problems in both their family love and your own family love.
