Crowds of angry Kenyan Muslims marched in a peaceful protest to the police headquarters in Nairobi, demanding the release of people who have been arrested allegedly with US government backing and are being tortured in the 'war on terrorism'.

The 'war on terror' in Africa largely goes unnoticed in the media, but it appears that in their fight with bin Laden, the US government and military has been supporting human rights abusers on the continent. The support and aid for Ethiopia's barbaric invasion and occupation of Somalia is already well known, and the allegations that Kenyan Muslims deemed 'dangerous' are being detained with US backing have also been backed by Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International. While some of the people detained may have committed terrorism, mostly innocent people are being victims of this 'war on terror'. And let us not forget that torture is also a form of terrorism.

While Muslims may not be our brothers and sisters in Christ, they are created in God's likeness and image and loved by Him no less than we are. Jesus calls on us to take a stand and reach out to help all people who are victims of injustice, and that includes Muslims, many of whom are being terrorized by both 'muslim' extremists claiming to murder in the name of Islam (with whom most Muslims disagree and whose violent beliefs they do not share or even consider a part of their faith) as well as by Western governments fighting their 'war on terror'- and their allied proxies. Most victims of both suicide bombings and 'military operations' are innocent Muslim men, women and children.

We are called to be witnesses to the love and saving grace of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, to preach the Gospel in our actions and our deeds. Please keep the Muslims of Kenya, Afghanistan, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Palestine, Canada, America and all over the world in our prayers. Let us stand beside them in the struggle for human rights, dignity, and justice that they deserve and that God has meant for all people. As we witness to them and to all people a God who loves them so much that He died on the cross for them, let one of the ways our love is shown be expressed in our stand for social justice and human rights that so many people across the world are being denied.
