  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If Mr. Stone (who I have never even heard of) is lacking on Judaic insight regarding the Tabernacle, then how does it matter what he comes up with by incorporating the New Testament and Jesus?
If I gave you reason to believe that that is what I was saying let me say first of all that I didn't mean to say or imply that Perry Stone is lacking on Judaic insight, not just on the tabernacle but in other theologies as well. So now I really don't know how to answer your question because I don't believe that's what I said. Whjere do you see me saying this?

If that was what I believe about PS then I guess I would have a problem with him incorporating the NT into the OT. The two work together. There are many hidden references to Jesus Christ in the OT. You have the Isaiah prophecies of him, there are psalms that speak of his comeing, Genesis 3:15 starts it all out. So to suggest that the materials used to build the tabernacle and in how it is laid out shows a prophetic picture of the comeing Christ and Gods plan of salvation isn't something I reject and find silly but is something I take seriously in studying. I have with the help of Perry Stone and everything that he has taught on this makes sense to me. I hope I answered your question?

I am not being cynical or sarcastic. I am sincerely asking, because unless you have a complete and contextual picture of something in Scripture; how can you come up with any conclusions that make sense?
I agree and I don't believe that is what I was saying about Perry Stone.

I do broach this topic with caution, because I see that it arouses emotion in you. So, please understand that I am coming to you with arms raised and palms showing.
Talk about context, If you followed the context of what I have said in this thread and the emotion I have shown while saying it you would know that the problem I have had isn't about the tabernacle or anything else that Perry Stone teaches but has everything to do with certain peoples attitudes towards tv evangelists and how they contort what they say and do to make them fit their mold mold of what it is to be a false prophet. Thats what arouses emotion in me.

Thanks for trying to understand.

Dear Neph:

This is the statement that led to my question,

Mr Stone does glean most of his insight on this from Jewish tradition in what the materials used to build the tabernacle was supposed to represent.

I probably read too much into it, but my question comes from this: if he doesn't glean most of his insight from a Jewish tradition; then what does he glean it from?

Sorry for the ambiguity and misunderstanding on my part.

Shalom,

m.d.

In the Bible, the Torah, not all the materials used are explained. Perry Stone has traveled to Israel like 25 times in both tour groups and for further study. He has been taught by Jewish religious leaders on why these materials were used, what was behind the traditions of the priesthood and so on and so forth.

For instance all of the posts were made of a certain kind of hard, durable wood. Jewish tradition tells us why this particular type of wood was used, you wont find this reason in the Bible. Also, the footstands for the outer court posts were caped with bronz and the top capped with silver while the inner court posts had silver on the bottom and bronz on top. Once in the Holies of Holies the bottoms of the post were capped with silver and the top capped with gold. there is a significant reason for why the Israelites were instructed to do this and Perry Stone explains how it represents the comeing Messiah and Gods plan of salvation.

The furinture used in the outer court and in the Holy place also has significance and pertians to the comeing messiah. All this information isn't totally understood untill you learn Jewish traditions. Does the Bible explain to us why the posts were to be made like this in different ways? No it doesn't, one has to look further into it know what is going on. Perry Stone has learned these things and teaches this with a knowledge of Christ haveing redeamed us already.

Sorry for the ambiguity and misunderstanding on my part.
That's alright, what are message boards for if not for misunderstandings? :) I hope I didn't confuse you more with what I have just said.

Holy Cow!!! I just figured out what has been wrong. For some reason, I kept reading that Perry does NOT glean from Jewish tradition. Boy do I feel sheepish. I obviously need to go to bed.

Your first paragraph made me go back and read, and I've been incorrect from the jump. Goodness me.

I am very aware of Halacha and Oral Torah. I know exactly what you are talking about. I am going to go ahead and exit stage right with my tail all the way up and between my legs.

Whoo-eee!

My God parents daughter is his secretary. He flys her home on his private jet for Holidays its crazy! We have met him once for a family gathering and he came with her. I have never seen him in 'action' but he is pretty cool outside the church.
