CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a unique perspective.
My mother-in-law was his babysitter. My wife's grandparents are close friends with Perry Stone, Sr. (Jr. is the one on tv). He comes from a very traditional Pentecostal (Church of God) background. I think he is very sincere in his teaching, but I disagree with quite a few of his 'interpretations' of prophetic writings.

From his website I gather that he is a prophecy scholar. (I am really getting out of touch with the new roster of telepreachers.)
Whether he has a real handle on end time prophecies, who knows? Time will tell. The thing to do IMO is to jot down his predictions and see if they come to pass. If they dont, I wouldnt listen to anything else he said.
I have done this with Hal Lindsey, John Hagee, and others who major in speculative predictions. I figure if they are wrong here, they may be wrong there, as well.
Its always better to be safe than sorry.

I stand with my brothers and sisters in Israel!
I watch his program regularly as well as attend conferences where he is a speaker. I believe that he is very good regarding prophecy and he is not afraid to say that he was mistaken. So - he's not a prophet like Isaiah, but he is a prophecy scholar. I see the difference, even if some don't. And his insights are worthy of thought, if nothing else.
Why is there so much negativity regarding those on TV. I know that Jim had a bad experience, but I have heard much worse preaching in churches than what's on TV.

TV preachers are more visible than regular preachers. Thus their preaching is more scrutinized.

He is a prophecy teacher. He presents his opinions on what vague scriptures may be interpreted as. He is not a prophet. You test prophets by whether or not what they say comes to pass. He is a good man, he is trying to teach and purely that.

3For the time is coming when [people] will not tolerate (endure) sound and wholesome instruction, but, having ears itching [for something pleasing and gratifying], they will gather to themselves one teacher after another to a considerable number, chosen to satisfy their own liking and to foster the errors they hold,
4And will turn aside from hearing the truth and wander off into myths and man-made fictions.
Ephesians 4
11And His gifts were [varied; He Himself appointed and gave men to us] some to be apostles (special messengers), some prophets (inspired preachers and expounders), some evangelists (preachers of the Gospel, traveling missionaries), some pastors (shepherds of His flock) and teachers.
12His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christ's body (the church),
13[That it might develop] until we all attain oneness in the faith and in the comprehension of the [[1] full and accurate] knowledge of the Son of God, that [we might arrive] at really mature manhood (the completeness of personality which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ's own perfection), the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Christ and the completeness found in Him.
I find it very peculiar that, with all this huge heaped-up pile of "teachers" that we have today, the 'church' is further from "the unity of the Faith..." than it's ever been.
Perhaps we don't need the great majority of these teachers at all. Maybe 2 Tim 4:3-4 has already come to pass.
