Believe it because it's true, how we see ourselves means nothing to how others see us.
The US is seen by some of the rest of the world as a fat noisy child, President Obama has done a lot to change that and Hillary will hopefully change it even more.
The US wants to be the worlds policeman but hasn't quite got the hang of it yet, they are still putting their big feet where they shouldn't be putting them and their need for oil is making fools of them.

You said the Mexicans are the ones calling out racism. Your link does not prove that, unless you have further proof that occupy democrats are Mexican? Apparently somebody was not smart enough to get the correct evidence....

Don't believe what? That we are not known by the vision we hold of ourselves. Our capacity for self delusion is only exceeded by our ability to rationalize our efforts. It is not without reason that the world sees us as something less than their savior and it is not without cause that there are elements within our own society that attempts to temper our attitudes.

Much has been said by the mouthpieces from the right about the exceptionalism of America, but in stating that they are also stating that we are the exception of the rule that binds this world together. We are not the bulwark of righteousness that we attribute to ourselves. If we were we would not have overran those who were less capable of defending themselves than we were at defeating them. Much has been done under the name of America and much more has been done under the name of Christianity. The very measures that many have used to ensure the supremacist of Christianity in this land is a testimony against them being Christ-like at all.

I don't really concern myself with the image the rest of the world has of us more than I am the image we present to ourselves. Those outside American can only interpret what they see. We, on the other hand interpret ourselves as the way we feel and feelings leave much to be desired when placed against the rigidity of reality.
