Perhaps. Then again, a tire that looks flat may be just flat.

(bracing myself for the "it's only flat on the bottom" counter-argument")

Even a flat tire is full of supernatural air. You just can't comprehend it with your limited human view of the universe.

This is the problem when believing in words from a book. That contradicts itself, the real world and the truth.

People can start to interpret it to mean anything. Add that to what they hear in their head. And we have the key for good or evil. As evil is the likely to win. We have had burning people, drowning them, wars, genocide and more wickedness. Because of the blind faith of the followers, believing if they don't agree, they don't go to Heaven, and for some religions. If they do as they're told, not only do the go to Heaven, they have virgins waiting there for them.

Which when one thinks about it, is pretty silly. Give me a girl who knows what she's doing every time.

Someone asked my why I was no longer a Christian. Seems pretty clear really.

Clear as mud. The bible is beautiful, people like you are unable to perceive it.

I have read the works of many NT scholar and historian and most will state; the NT is a terrific work of theology, but is not a reliable account of history.

In regards to the theology part, people typically interpret the theology in a such a way, that suits them personally.

There is more to the bible than history.
It speaks of the present that most miss.
I don't interpret the bible, I scan it to see what applies to me.
This is a inner personal path, not an learning path.

Yes a beautiful book, like Lord of the Rings, Hamlet, Iliad, etc.

The shame is people cherry pick parts to further their own ends.

You need a few miracles to prove the benefits that will change your thinking.
Thinking is stinking. Many thoughts come from an entity that mislead.
You have no idea how tricky they are. And just as ugly when confronted.

So a book that misleads is something to be wary of?

People who claim to know more, and can't explain why, also need to avoided.

I agree, they can be very tricky. some might claim they are able to see, hear, know, understand, communicate, what the rest of us can't. That all we need to do it believe they know best and all we have to do is follow.

Will there be 72 virgins waiting for me on the other side? Whoops, wrong bible. :)

Madera I respect your right to believe in what you believe. You can use real evidence to back up your belief or counter mine. Just never assume that the people who compiled any bible had any better idea of what god was thinking, than those who compiled the Quran, Constantine and The Council of Nicaea, or the cardinals who elect a Pope.

Question and if the answers don't satisfy, ask more.

I would reveal things that would make your hair stand on end, (If you have hair that is)
I hope one day you can meet that entity, then you will know for yourself.
By the way, it is speaking through you.
It is not the book that misleads.

Well, there is little history in the bible, correct. The bible is about theology.

And I would agree, depending on how one reads and interprets the book, you can apply it to just about anything today.

And sorry, whenever a human reads any words, some level of interpretation is involved.

Would this mean, all spiritual people agree with the meaning of scripture?
Spiritual people rarely read scripture, only the religious studiers are.
I scan it rarely., been years.
your questions will remain questions until you seek yourself.
and even if you seek you are nor ready for the meat.
you have to be hungry and you are not.
you are just looking to find fault.
good luck

That's all I hear "I can tell things" with "If only you believed".

I left religion because it's all based on believing a story no one can prove, many can disprove, logic makes nonsense, and relies on me not asking questions.

Maybe a god is speaking through me, telling you to question the words of men.

What's theology?

Theology
the study of the nature of God and religious belief.
"a theology degree"
religious beliefs and theory when systematically developed.
plural noun: theologies
"in Christian theology, God comes to be conceived as Father and Son

It accepts the existence of a god, which god, which version of god, and who does one believe has the right interpretation of the bible? A group of Israelites in Babylon, a group of politically motivated and led clergy in Constantinople, a man in the Vatican, A Mullah in Iran?

In the end it comes down to what man does one believe. Then does one need to question what that man says. And here the religious make it clear, there's no room for questions they don't want. You have to believe they are right.
While they interpret and cherry pick.

I've read the Bible from cover to cover. It is beautiful...as long as I cherry pick its meaning. When I keep it in mind as a complete work, it has some very ugly parts and aspects.

Thinking is stinking.

That is where you go wrong. Thinking is your only source of self-correction. People who don't think are locked in whatever subconsciously calculated views they may have picked up over the years.

And Cult 101 teaches that one must get the followers to doubt their thoughts, otherwise the doctrine may be doubted. It's a way of locking people in place.

All language was confused, even the scriptures, [by design] at the Tower of Babel. It was purposely riddled to make it difficult, to separate the wheat from the chaff. Only those who hear and see the clues God has built into his design...figure it out and get on the right path through the jungle of misinterpretations.

Were the OT and NT written before or after the Tower of Babel?

It was purposely riddled to make it easy, to decide what was wheat and chaff. Which is why today we don't do what Yishai Schlissel, did yesterday as he followed god's law. While Israel arrested him, it continues to kick Palestinians out of their home land, claiming god gave it to them.

The problem is the cherry picking and interpreting people do today and claim they're real Christians. Jesus was adamant, he hadn't come to do away with the old laws. Yet people have found convenient bits to do away with them and Yishai Schlissel was arrested for trying to stick to those old laws. And before you claim the New Covenant. When did Jesus say that included going back on his previous statement of keeping the old laws?

When I figure that out, I might get on the right path through the jungle of misinterpretations.

You do not understand when you say the only way we get self correction is through thoughts, Everyone has an entity in them that speaks to us and we think those are our thoughts.
the Holy Spirit speaks to us and corrects us.
Psalm, Be still and know God" not through thought.
Gods way is a mystery for our protection.

that is why scripture tells us to "take every thought captive.".
