  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Perfection

Although most people feel we are unable to achieve perfection, 'The practice of all the virtues is animated and inspired by charity,(ccc #1827)', which "binds everything together in perfect harmony (Col 3:14)", charity is the 'form of the virtues'. Charity upholds and purifies our human ability to love, and raises it to the supernatural perfection of divine love. By being charitable at all times, in everything, we are truly showing we love God above all things, and we love our neighbor as ourselves for the love of God.

The perfection Jesus tells us of is the love He has for us; this love is made manifest when we follow His "new" commandment - to love one another as He has loved us (see John 15:9, 12). How better to have and to show this love than through charity? :priest:
