Anyone who's interested in seeing math presented in a less offensively dumb way should read up on John Allen Paulos, who has done some very well-considered books on mathematics and why it *can* be important to you - as well as doing a better job of explaining what he covers.

To al you numeralically challanged-

I can count on one hand the twenty or so reasons that I don't like math. However, some of the reasons are redundant so its like "five of one - half a dozen of the other".

But as they say, you should listen more than you speak. That is why God gave you one mouths and several ear.

I spent a month one weekend at a math enrichment course. It was the worse twenty-five hours I have ever spent in a day. I could study math eight days a week and still not be able to put two and two together to make a trio of intelligent mathamatical thoughts.

I once had to do 144 math problems!- THAT'S GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!

So for all you that have trouble with math, just add up all your other virtures, multiply your blessings, do not divide your brethern, and subtract the remainder of the inverted dividend of the square root of your problems.

Remember, forgive your trespasser seventy time seven- how ever many that is???????????????????????????????????????????

In Christ (He can count on me) Pat

geometry is worse

Calculating areas and volumes isn't so bad, but upper level geometry (analytic geometry, topology, etc.) is not so good. Topology was the only 400-level math class at my college; I avoided it completely.

Maths, structures, logics and analysis is one of the essentials reason why I breath. It's my thought, my words, those spread 5 hours each day I try to think through different problems and valiantly struggling through to the other side. Without any love for maths I would still be picking my nose in a cave somewhere, alone because I can't figure out how to structurize myself, or even understand and live with other people around me, hating every thing I tried to figure out.
I connect it both closely linked to Justice and Prosperity. Without it we'd be still living in cold caves and also had a pure random and probably very brutal lives.
Not only do I count it as of essential importance, but also maybe the most funny thing there is to do, if you could call something as abstract as maths as 'funny'. Maybe that's why we hate it so much too, because we know it's so essential but we often meet the wall so much. But I think we all, uncounsciously or not, like maths to some extent.

You gotto be careful, if you take the wrong turn you'll end up towards a too high wall.

I personally think it's dangerous to distance yourself too much from maths. Don't give up on it! But try to find some easy and funny stuff. The thing is to find something that is in balance with how good you are.
