I have an allergy towards dull, boring, and chronically miserable people. They seem to create a blanket of negativity that smothers everyone around them.

Even the thought of them can cause you to exhale deeply in an exasperated manner.
sigh...

Vincent Van Gogh was one of them!

Spontaneous humor is nice.

But humor loses all of its appeal when people start talking about sense of humor being some litmus test for a dating/marriage partner; sense of humor being some measure of a person's moral worth / character; humor, smiling and laughter being scientifically shown to increase longevity, etc.

And a lot of people are self-righteous about their non-serious demeanor. They make it sound like the world is an exponentially better place because they are smiling and laughing constantly. And the world would be perfect if everybody was like them, they seem to say.

Furthermore, I think that if somebody is hurting, depressed, down, etc. that it is not nice to say to them things like, "Happiness is a choice" or "It takes fewer muscles to smile than to frown". They need compassion, not shame for their non-humorous, non-smiling, non-laughing demeanor.

The next time that you enjoy peace and quiet, thank an introvert.

What do you have in a room where the only people are two introverts? A party. What do you have in a room where the only people are three introverts? A convention.
