Your church is not consonant with scripture or the writings of early ecclesiastics. The idea that Peter was the first pope is a house-of-straw that collapses upon first inspection.
Funny to me that Peter never mentioned that he was anything other than a fellow elder. The Catholic Church is perfectly consonant with scripture and the writings of early ecclesiastics. The idea that Peter was the first pope is confirmed by scripture and early christian testimony

Well, MamaZ, you should know that Peter was modest to a fault, even to the point of not excommunicating Paul when Paul rebuked him to his face.
sure he did. Anyone who properly understands the "Before Abraham was, I AM" knows that's exactly what he was saying.Funny how Jesus never came out and said "I Am God."
Peace

And any one that properly understands "On this rock I will build my Church" Knows that St. Peter is the 1st Pope.

hardly. The first mention of a Pope comes centuries later. Then, you cobble together the "well, that means every guy before him was a pope too." Scriptural record of Peter doesn't describe someone who believed they had authority over all the church.
btw, when is it claimed that Peter made it to Rome to start his role as supposed Overlord of the church? AD.....?

You apparently don't know what a "pope" is. The English word pope is a poor translation, from Latin: "papa" or "father", and from Greek πάπας ," pápas". It refers to the Bishop of Rome. We call priests and bishops father (see here: LINK ). Who came up with the word "pope", I have no idea. But he is the "Bishop of Rome." And the first mention of the Bishop of Rome does not come centuries later. The Bishops of Rome were traced back to Peter in early Christian writings:hardly. Well since Peter did not Die for mens sin how can the church be built on Peter? And where is it ever stated that Peter is the Cornerstone?
I never said he was the corner stone.
Jesus is the corner stone. A corner stone has information about the foundation. Such as who paid for it. Meaning who bought the building material. Who hired the workers and when was it built.
Peace
Literally, the stone placed at the corner of a building during construction. Figuratively, the item or person which began something significant.
- A stone at the corner of a building uniting two intersecting walls; a quoin.
- Such a stone, often inscribed, laid at a ceremony marking the origin of a building.
- An indispensable and fundamental basis: the cornerstone of an argument.
So this is the rock that the Church is built upon not on Peter. For Peter didn't start anything but was a follower of Christ.
