They strip mine phosphates in Florida’s Bone Valley. Fossil collectors found whale and shark fossils in the phosphate mines. Bones require phosphorous. Plants grow better with phosphate fertilizer. Saudi Arabia has large undeveloped phosphate deposits.

Phosphorus is used in many household products. Everything from detergent to toothpaste. I spent some of my childhood around phosphate mines, BTW.
