"PBS Asked Chinese Dissident, Anti-Communist Artist Ai Weiwei About Authoritarianism, Hoping He Would Condemn Trump."

One person cannot be an authoritarian without a substantial system of support. Trump never had that system of support. But, a system of support does exist for something else:

"In many ways you are already in the authoritarian state [referring to the US], but you just don't know it." Ai Weiwei is referring to political correctness and the system associated with it.

Here's the full interview:

Ai Weiwei | Full Episode 11.12.21 | Firing Line with Margaret Hoover | PBS - YouTube

The US is heading down the path of China's cultural revolution, except with western characteristics. Trump caused a big acceleration by the Left. I guess they were in shock that he could be elected. Half the US population needs some serious re-education.

The power/voice of the people ... speaks loudly in America, as opposed to any level of authoritarianism.

If you think of the major American issues of the day (barring COVID, let's say) ... those issues are clearly populist, and they compete in the heart and the minds of the American public. Every opinion in the US has access to the public dais now, in some way or another. That, in part, is why there is such public wrangling now. Everyone is getting their say, ... but they have to compete with the multitude of differing views, for instance, on ...

Abortion
Gay Marriage
Gun Control
Immigration
Climate Change
Tax Policy
Foreign Relations
Provision of Health Care
etc.

The government, in many ways, exists only to determine and carry out the will of the majority.

If you believe in rule by the people, ... you must recognize that, at times, your personal views will not be reflected by the majority of the people, ... and government will be unpleasant for you in some ways.

Political correctness, itself, shifts with the will of the people.

The struggle in America is now more about the will of the majority vs. the rights of those with minority views.

Is America really about the will of the majority?

Let me tell you a little story about the Washington state gubernatorial race in 2004. I watch this unfold in real time as I was jumping up and down screaming. In that race the Republican won but it was close. Democrats demanded a recount. Wouldn't you know it that in Seattle they discovered some uncounted ballots. Those ballots went heavily for the Democrat candidate but it wasn't enough to win. Democrats demanded another recount. More ballots were discovered in Seattle but they still weren't enough to win. Democrats demanded another recount. More ballots were discovered. This time the ballots were enough to push the Democrat candidate into the win category. No more recounts. Election over. Democrat wins.

In this latest presidential election, the various media outlets suppressed the story about Hunter Biden's lost laptop. This information probably would have changed the outcome of the election. We see that most of the media is just a mouthpiece of the Democratic party. And what about the FBI sitting around doing nothing as BLM was burning down various cities across the country? Clearly, that was an effort to manipulate the upcoming presidential election. Violence to affect a political outcome is called terrorism.
