When you are talking about the "other side" as Trump, besieged by criminal investigations: his legions of pardoned criminals; and his allies in QAnon. Proud Boys, Oath Keepers and domestic terrorists, you are talking about more than differences of opinion.

You are talking about rooting out the evil on the Republican Party, and if my state is any example, there are plenty of politicians that shouldn't be.

Now if the Democrats would have the wherewithal to do the same.

Republicans need more people to speak truth to voters. Truth is essential. If our electorate would hold the liars and manipulators accountable, perhaps our elected officials would be more willing to be truthful and not exploit voters cognitive biases. Mr trump studied right wing websites to find his talking points to exploit voter bias. Now most republicans are all in to exploit extremely biased people simply to retain power. Democracy seems to be an afterthought to them now. They are following the extremists rather than lead their coalition and protecting democracy. This is not exclusive to republicans tho, as democrats have members willing to manipulate too. But at least the caucus appears to care about us citizens and tries to legislate with our needs as a priority. In DC today the issue is agreeing on reality. There seems to be two different narratives of truth. They can't even agree on the facts anymore. I'm afraid this stalemate will continue if our electorate keeps voting incumbents back into office. The incumbents have proved they are impotent in regards to compromising and helping all Americans. We deserve better!

...at some point "false equivalence" arguments break down. When they abut reality is usually when it becomes apparent that there is a systemic problem.

Good luck with this.

Compare the pressure put on Andrew Cuomo to resign to the cowardly, complicit 35 senators who voted against a 1/6 investigation.

How about comparing the murders of our Embassy staff and Ambassador in Benghazi? How many on the left called for an investigation of Mrs. Clinton?

If you want to do a comparison - perhaps insurgent action vs insurgent action

The DNC is in no way comparable to the GOP.

It just isn’t. The GOP is the party that supports the violent overthrow of the US government.

Democrats sat on the numerous unnecessary Benghazi hearings.

Are you aware that 60 Americans were killed in embassy attacks during the Bush years with Republicans completely unconcerned?

Are you aware that embassies were vulnerable because Republicans had cut funding recommended by Obama, and that embassies were begging these recalcitrant Republicans for help?

Well, now you are. The insurrection is nothing like an attack by foreigners on an underfunded embassy, courtesy of Republicans.

Not everyone in the GOP. It was pro-Trump Republicans who stormed our nation's Capitol and tried to overturn the presidential election results in Trump's favor. I'm a Republican and I denounce that.

Well, you have that media and party slogan down pat.

The DNC is home to supporters of the violent and continual attempts of destroying Federal Courthouses. The current VP even went public in her support to the point of raising funds for their bail.

Just because their actions are dismissed and/or ignored doesn't make it so.

The Republicans in Congress denounced nothing.

Sadly, they -- not you -- determine which direction the party is going.

Well, that's obvious. I wish the Republican Party wasn't under Trump's control, but it is.

THE ONLY PEOPLE TO VIOLENTLY STORM THE US LEGISLATURE IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP VOTE COUNT FOR THE 2020 ELECTION ARE TRUMP SUPPORTERS

I still think the Lord can change the direction of the GOP and restore the party to get back to the roots that Ronald Reagan planted in 1981. All hope is not lost, and Paul Ryan is proof.

No problemo. After the FBI investigation, there was a bipartisan Senate investigation. Then 5 bipartisan House committees. Then another bipartisan (7-5) select committee.

Trump is going to schism the GOP.
The old-guard are real, actual, conservatives.
The Trump faction is right-wing populism with a fair amount of “otherizing” of anyone doesn’t belong to the in-group.

When’s the last time you heard “free trade” from the GOP?

Actually both the GOP and DNC seem to be more protectionist and nationalist than decades ago. It seems to me that the entire world is moving more toward populism and away from globalism, which is in a way terrifying because that is the kind of thing that leads to world war. My country is better than your country, and us first, you last, etc. We are not even sharing vaccines in all sincerity.
