Patronizing Racism

I have a friend who denies the fact that there are many - millions to be exact - wealthy Mexicans, despite all that I've done to educate him on this matter. Because of all the poor illegals entering the country, he assumes all Mexicans are poor. He tells me that he's guilty of "old ways of thinking," but if you've been exposed to the truth and yet refuse to accept the facts, doesn't this constitute racism, if not down right idiocy? In the state of Texas, in places like San Antonio, McAllen, Houston, Dallas, its common knowledge that there are many wealthy Mexicans because they do their shopping in these cities. Also, watching Mexican televison quickly reveals the wealthy upper class.

How do I deal with my friend? Is he guilty of a form of racism, despite all that I've done to inform him.

Your friend is an ostrich with his head deeply planted in the sand.

Just don't talk to him about race. It's obvious he's not open to the truth. Just be friends and talk about something else.

Why does your friend's lack of willingness to see reality as you see it bother you so much? You seem very upset about something you have no control over.
