Hey!

I use the Computer frequently. But, when I go away I minimize programs down to the taskbar. I was curious if there was some sort of program you could install...that allowed you to password protect those minimized windows that way anyone who comes and tries to bring up the programs has to type a password that you set.

Is there such a program?

Thank You.

I've never heard of any program like that. In Windows 2000 and NT you can lock the computer, but that doesn't seem to be an option in Windows XP for some reason.

There are certainly third-party desktop locking applications though.

On XP:

Set a screensaver to come on after a certain period of inactivity - whatever won't annoy you, but will still suit your purposes. Then check the box that says, "On resume, password protect". You can set it so that in order to clear the screen saver and get back to your desktop, you have to enter a password. It doesn't completely do what you wanted, but it might be a solution to your problem.

Not sure about XP Home, but in Pro you can lock your desktop the exact same way as in NT and 2000.

Huh, I tried to do it on XP Pro before. Maybe I just wasn't trying hard enough. I'll look again when I get home.

There isnt anything though just for certain minimized windows? Because, we all use the same Windows account, and I just want certain windows locked on the taskbar rather than locking the entire desktop/computer. If there are third party programs that'd do such a thing, where could I find them at?
