What are people's views on it? I know we do not support active but active and passive are different things. Active is when they inject something in to speed death. Passive is when an adult of sound mind either through living will or at the time he or she is ill states that he or she no longer wishes to receive treatment for whatever reason. Rather it be to save their family medical bills or simply that are tired of fighting or KNOW they are dying any now and do not want to just live in the state they are or in my case ( even though I do not need one right now) I have chosen to refuse a liver transplant because of my already years of PRESCRIPTION drug use I KNOW will be for life.

All of this to asks what are your views on PASSIVE euthanisia, that is an adult of sound mind choosing to refuse what would be life saving or at least result in a SLIGHTLY longer life.

I think that one should try to stay alive if at all possible because God may have a healing in store and you don't want to miss out on that. Giving up shows a lack of faith in God's healing.

Yours was induced by perscription drugs created by man so I do not feel it is wrong for you to have a liver transplant but that has to be your decision. I can not give you an answer as to whether it is right or wrong.
If you are married with children they need to be taken into the equation as this also effects them.
Now so far as someone who has lived his life out it is wrong to force them to stay alive for your selfesh reasons or make them comfortable and let them go to be home with the lord.

If I know that getting a new liver will not change my medication situation ( if anything it will require me to be on more). I'm like you and I've already sat down with my physician and explained my position on death. I know I'm going to die unless Jesus returns before then. I don't agree that man's modern medicine is a blessing of God. I believe that man's modern medicine is actually one of the many ways in which we follow '666'. Yes, I know that a lot of people will rebuke that and that's ok with me. You see, '666' means that we follow the ways of man and not the ways of God. I don't buy into this attitude that I must do everything in my power to keep myself alive for as many days as I can through whatever means I can.

I trust God. I believe that He has the power to give me life and renew my days for as long or as many as He wants that done. I believe that even if I come down with some deadly disease or affliction that He has the power to fix it, if it is His will to do so.

I believe Jesus was telling the truth when he said that we are not to love this life. "The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life." So, for those who would say, "Oh you've got to do everything you can to keep this life", my question would be, "Why?". I exist and live by the power of the living God and the days that I receive are by His hand. If I am about to die and God wants me to live, trust me, I will live without the aid of modern medicine. I will live because God sustains all life.

So, yes, I sat down with my physician when I was 50 and we talked for about 20 minutes and I explained my beliefs to him. I told him that if he's ever called to the hospital and my heart has stopped, just turn around and walk away. Don't pull out the paddles and try to revive my heart. If God wants that to happen, He'll take care of it. I explained to him that if I'm ever diagnosed with cancer of some sort or some other deadly disease or infirmity, that I'm perfectly happy with your saying, "Ted, you've got such and such and it's more than likely going to kill you in a few months or years." Then follow up with, "I'll be here if you need me for anything and I pray that your death is peaceful, but you will soon see the face of God. I have just decided to trust God with the days of my life and I'm OK with that.

Now, yes, each one has to decide such a thing on their own and surely the medical profession frowns on such an attitude. That's Ok. You see, they are '666' and I'm trusting in '777'.

God bless you and I pray that your death will also be in peace and that you also will be rewarded for trusting in the one who is able to give life and take it away for the days of your life. God is good!

However, I will accept the vast majority of other treatments, unless the treatment has a very slim chance of working and it is more pain than its worth. For example, very advanced stage cancer.

I think it should be the adults decision if they truly are in their right frame of mind.

To force medical treatment against consent, even when it's not life altering or saving, is getting into slippery slopes.

I think most of the time with these cases is when someone has a rebout of cancer, for example, and they don't want to do treatment again and are giving in/up, ready to go home.

it is choosing to refuse medical treatment
( not advocating any one should do so )
in the realm of faith in the lord Jesus - just because a doctor(man) pronounces that if you do not take the meds, you will die - does not make it truth in the Spirit .

My wife and I both struggled a little with the process of allowing a person to die, Twice. In both cases Hospice came in. In the case of her dad they said to take him off all his medications and just wait for him to die, which he did in about a month. In the case of her mother, they didn't take her off meds but did not want us to take her to the hospital unless absolutely necessary. She died in about 3 months of being on Hospice. I questioned God on this but I had a peace about it because although God gave us knowledge of modern medicine, He also gave us and understands the option of just putting our life in His hands and looking to Him to keep us for awhile on this earth or take us home. I don't think He judges us harshly for just allowing nature to take its course. After all, He created the process of death as well as life and we can trust Him to show us what is best.
