I find more Christ-like behavior between NCR folks interacting than with same faith icon toting folks doing so, even in their own forums.
The exception (other than the occasional exceptional individual) are the OO folks. I find they walk the walk more than everyone else.
Christ-like behavior? That's very strange indeed. If I may assume that "Christ-like" means "doing what Christ taught," then this teaching comes to mind,
Then they said to him, "What must we do, to be doing the works of God?" Jesus answered them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent." (John 6:28-29)
Non-Christians are therefore not Christ-like
by definition. Jesus taught his people to live by faith,
"For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you." (Matthew 17:20)
This faith is not some arbitrary faith in whatever you feel like placing your faith in. As the first passage makes clear, Jesus teaches us to have faith in God, and in Jesus Christ whom he has sent. He said that anyone who did not believe in him stood condemned (John 3:18). Therefore all non-Christian religions are false, all non-Christians are living in sin by practicing their respective religions, and whatever one may call the behavior of non-Christians, it cannot be called Christ-like. No doubt you will tell me that Jesus says not to judge, yet it was Jesus who said,
You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one. Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for it is not I alone who judge, but I and the Father who sent me. (John 8:15-16)
You may say that I ought not judge non-Christians. But in speaking positively of "Christ-like" behavior, you lend a certain credibility to the teachings of Jesus. Yet it is these very teachings which condemn all non-Christians to an eternity in hell. How easy it is to label sinful behavior as Christ-like when one has the freedom to cut the Scriptures in pieces and paste them together in any order he likes! The behavior you are referring to is not Christ-like behavior. It is behavior that conforms to your own personal moral code, which you have incorrectly attributed to Christ. This is idolatry.
I know that what I've written sounds rather harsh, and you'll have to take my word when I say that I do not bear any ill-will towards you. But I am deeply concerned that many people on this forum refer to alleged teachings of Christ that do not exist in Scripture. This is done primarily through redefinition of words. "Love" becomes indifference to sin. "Tolerance" (which
is taught in Scripture) becomes the belief that non-Christian religions are true and valid means of reaching God, and that consequently God won't send non-Christians to hell. "Faith" becomes blind trust in any belief or religious system, and is seen as virtuous even when the object of faith is a false idol instead of Jesus Christ the Son of God. And even then, portions of Scripture which disagree with one's personal code of conduct are ignored completely. Allow this line of reasoning to continue, and the very concept of absolute truth is lost, and the word of God becomes irrelevant. Such a distorted view of the teachings of Christ do not come from a desire to earnestly obey Jesus Christ, but to circumvent his teachings because they are inconvenient. Yet Christ promised that his words would never pass away. You can't make excrement shine by calling it gold, and likewise you can't make non-Christian religions godly by referring to them as Christ-like.
