• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Edward Hallowell, M.D. has written some great books about ADHD. "Driven to Distraction" is one.

I get upset when people act as if ADHD doesn't exist....and now that that study came out that 50% of children outgrow it it will be worse than ever.

It hasn't happened with my teen yet :(

I have a group of friends that we discuss out kids with. We've found that our ADHD kids and many other ADHD kids have an incredible ability to learn...they are exceedingly bright, easy to frustrate, and have a very difficult time going to sleep...which compounds the problems.

Another oddity we noticed, they have RLS (restless leg syndrome). Every child I personally know with ADHD has said that their legs keep them awake at night. They can't seem to get their bodies...specifically legs to stop moving so that they can sleep. My son takes chamomile tea to help him sleep. We get the kind with valerian in it. Thn he's allowed to have a little decaf coffee in the morning. The caffeine content is minimal, and helps him calm himself. This helps, but he still has occurances where he just can't seem to sleep.
