Matthew 13:24-30

The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares

24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. 26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ 29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”

Matthew 13:36-43

The Parable of the Tares Explained

36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.”

37 He answered and said to them: “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. 39 The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. 40 Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. 41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
**********************************

What I learned from studying about this parable is that wherever we believers are living right now is not an accident.JESUS has sown us there for our lives to be a testimony to GOD'S grace, love and mercy shown to us.
And as we live our lives to the glory of GOD,people will be drawn to us and GOD in HIS grace, love and mercy may lead them to saving faith in HIS SON JESUS CHRIST.
But also people may go away from us and people will also come against us.But through all this,JESUS will strengthen us and guide us,as HE is the AUTHOR and FINISHER of our faith.

Hebrews 12:1-2
The Race of Faith
1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

So,JESUS will make sure that we will complete the course HE has prepared for us and then HE will receive us to HIMSELF in glory.

Praise and Glory be to the HOLY TRINITY ONE GOD!!!

Matthew 13 is one of the most important areas of the Bible.

Wheat and the tares, but also the parable of the seed.

I meditated on this for a long time, hours and hours.

A lot of the Bible hinges upon knowing Matthew 13 from God.

That's Great.
May the HOLY SPIRIT guide us in all truth!

Hi Michael, first off, you posted some very good insights into this passage, so thanks for those :) If you wouldn't mind however, please elaborate a little bit more about the part I copied into this post. For instance, where does this passage teach us that some would be drawn and come to faith while others will turn away and/or come against us? I don't disagree that what you said is true, I'm just trying to figure out how you arrived at that conclusion after reading this particular parable.

I'm also assuming that you do not mean that some of the "wheat" will become "tares", or visa versa, right?

Thanks!

Yours in Christ,
David
p.s. - I definitely agree that all of those who are "sown" by the Son of Man will persevere (be preserved) to Glory (i.e. John 6:39; Philippians 1:6; Hebrews 7:25) :amen:

Hi,
NO,I did not mean that,
The elect of GOD will definitely persevere till the end and no one can snatch them from THE FATHER'S Hand.

"But also people may go away from us and people will also come against us"-About this part that I posted,I agree yes,the parable does not state this.I was drawing on what experiences believers had to go through in the Bible, through the ages and now as well and also my personal life.

John 15:18-27
The World’s Hatred
18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 He who hates Me hates My Father also. 24 If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father. 25 But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, ‘They hated Me without a cause.’

The Coming Rejection
26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. 27 And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.

Praise be to JESUS THE ALMIGHTY SHEPHERD OF OUR SOULS!
