I've heard of it but I'm vegetarian so it's not for me. I don't think it's a fad, its been around for a while, even if it hasn't had the same name. I think it's a great concept. I fully support pure and raw foods. Processed foods are so horrible for our bodies.

You're right about processed foods. I've been really trying to cut down on how much I eat processed foods, it can be hard sometimes. I don't think I could ever become a vegetarian or a vegan, but I want something where I can eat meat, but also have lots of fruits, vegetables and grains. :)

I looked at the website you linked to see if I could get a summary of the diet, couldn't - so found this instead:

wikipedia said:
Centered on commonly available modern foods, the "contemporary" Paleolithic diet consists mainly of grass-fed pasture raised meats, fish, vegetables, fruit, roots, and nuts, and excludes grains, legumes, dairy products, salt, refined sugar, and processed oils.[

Is that about right?

If so, not for me. I understand the exclusion of dairy, refined sugar and excess salt as well as processed oils - but exclusion of legumes and whole grains? Those are my staples!

Also grass fed meats generally better for you than corn fed (and safer) - but one could still be taking in an enormous amount of saturated fat depending on the meat and the cut of the meat. The only animal products I eat currently are super lean beef (which I boil to eliminate the saturated fat from), boneless, skinless chicken breast and egg whites. Even considering drinking too much beer - I don't have a fat problem.

I wouldn't recommend the paleo diet. Our ancestors didn't live very long did they? :p. I would go with a balanced diet with increased exercise personally.
If you are willing to invest, I would recommend another diet program that has already somewhat proven itself. To be honest, all you need is the correct mindset and a little bit of nutritional knowledge. Know what you are eating, and know what you are burning.

Anybody struggling with their weight or even looking to bulk up a bit should give this blog a look. He has an
inspirational story of how he changed his life for the better, and ended up
meeting the love of his life. I always read his first post whenever I am a
bit frustrated with my dieting, Josh is a lucky man.

You should try intermittent fasting if you're looking for a way to cut some weight off...

It guarantees you will see your scale moving.

An example of what I do:
Every monday, wednesday and friday I fast.
I stop eating between 6-8pm the day before.
I then workout before I break my fast, usually boxing or something.
You break your fast at 20-24 hours after you started your fast... So if you started at 6pm you could eat at 2pm the next day.

Technically speaking, you wont ruin your metabolism or lose muscle (that is, if you work out). You actually have 5-6x the fat burning potential at around 20 hours in (that is why its good to work out before you break your fast). You get growth hormone spurts in you that will help build muscle (or maintain). Our bodys are normally in a insulin metabolized state, but fasting puts it in a glucagen.. the opposite of insulin. Insulin = puts weight on, glucagen = takes weight off. I recommend this to anyone whos having difficulty with weight.

A diet from the days when lifespans were around 25 years and infant mortality was around 90%? Couldn't possibly be anything wrong with it!

I don't think there's really any particular diet that's right for everyone. Certain foods are healthy overall, and others are to be avoided (processed foods in particular); but in general, people are individuals and should find out what gives them, individually, more energy. More energy means an active lifestyle, without which NO diet will be of much help.
