While I have some general reservation against bombing (instead of, for example, arresting) suspected terrorists, that's not really the issue here.
The issue is that Pakistan apparently wasn't informed about the attack on a village in its territory. Musharraf being a "great ally in the war on terror", why do you suppose the US couldn't just inform him of the terrosists' location and ask Pakistan to carry out the attack? Or at least ask for permission to bomb? Why the need to ignore the Pakistani territorial sovereignty?
I guess my point is: if something like this happened in a developed country, there'd be massive outrage. If it happened in a hostile country there'd be war. But since it happened in a friendly country that "can't take care of itself" that somehow makes it OK and they're expected to swallow their "sacrifice" for the greater good?
Oh, and according to the report, the airstrike didn't hit Zawahri who was the terrorist targeted, but killed at least 17 villagers (while some Pakistani sources claim more than 30 dead).
