Hello everyone.

I was just wondering who else likes P.O.D. (Payable On Death)? I have recently returned to the Christian faith, & while I liked their music before, their music just means a thousand times more to me now.

I had a POD cd that I really loved...but apparently so did my co-workers, they stole it! They also stole 3 other cds.
I hope they get good use out of them 'cause I sure won't now. Whatever happened to learning values from Christian music??
Oh well...I'll just buy another of each. someday.

POD rocks. i have been listening to them a little more laitly..i guess im in the mood. i really like The Fundamental Elements of Southtown the best. the new cd is ok i guess. there style changed alot with there new guitar player but i think the change is good and just like POD its different than other music that is offered.

FEOS is a great CD, one of their best. Their other best release has to be Brown. Although the recording quality sucked, the songs are just killer.

So, what does everyone make of POD's frequent refereces to "Jah" and the fact that Spin magazine claimed that they have blended "Christianity, Judaism and Rastafarianism"?


I don't know about you guys, but that sure doesn't seem kosher to me.

Sonny likes reggae, but that doesn't mean he likes Rastafarianism. He has compassion for those people for sure, since they are so close to Christianity and yet so far.

As for Judaism, they don't blend it in - at least no more than most Christians do. He looks for Biblical imagery in his lyrics, and what better place to look in the Bible than Psalms, which was written by Jews.

I blelive that most of the GUys on POD are christians. i also don't beleve much of what the media says. and does every POD thread get down to what they beleve..or what there faith is...

ok.....that doesn't prove anything I haven't seen before. Why don't any of these translations use the word JAH? COuld it be that it was a mis-translation?

Hello everyone.

And all this time I simply thought that "Jah" was a slang term that they were using for "you". LOL!

I like their music, because it's good & I can relate the lyrics to my own heart. Also, what's all the ruckus about them being sympathetic to other religions?

From what I've always been taught, we're supposed to respect the thoughts & feelings of others. Regardless of their religious beliefs. Not to close ourselves off to other people & other cultures because they may not agree with us.

The problem with POD is not that they are Rastafarians or that they try to blend different religions into one - they are definately a Christian band - and have as much said so. In fact their first two albums "Snuff the Punk" and "Brown" were released on Christian labels and are without a doubt in your face with the gospel and they took the conservative stand on issues such as abortion. With Truby, the old Living Sacrifice guitarist, playing with them now and also with Phil Keaggey making a guest appearance on the last CD there should be no doubt in anyone's mind that they are a Christian band.

The problem that I have with them is that their message isn't nearly as bold as it was in the beginning and I have to admit I have seen some compromise amongst them. For example on the last CD they put out a video with it that can be played on a PS2 that has a young man lusting after a beautiful woman - I have issues with that from a Christian band. Same goes with some of their videos. I really believe that when they signed with Atlantic records they opened themselves up to a lot of compromise with the world.

I still like POD however - I am just praying that they can be as bold and appear as strong in the faith as they did in the beginning. They have made some mistakes - but any of us in the same position would probably make the same ones - so I am making more of an observation than a judgement of them. I bet they come around eventually - they are just in a rut right now - hopefully it won't last onto their next release. That is one thing that makes them so likable - they are more on the level rather than being a high-and-mighty "above you" type of Christian group.

But if you are an ambassador for Christ then clearly you would you say something about the lies SPIn magazine did about you in their cover story. Maybe it wasn't a lie though...maybe POD does blend the religions and that is why they don't say anything.

Clearly not much. But what does that matter? POD should have been decent enough exaples of Christ to let them see what Christianity is at face value aqt least.

Just because someone is prolife or has a CDX put out by a CHristian label doesn't make them a Christian band. Strecth Arm Strong isn't a Christian band and theya re on Solid State.

And as far as being pro-life goes, that doesnt make someone Christian either.My friends' band sing about how abortion is murder and they are not Christians in the least.

They had a rastafarian priest do guest vocals on one of their songs, there should be no doubt in anyone's mind they are a Rastafarian band. That logic is terrible. You judge a person/entity by their fruits, not by who they hang out with

why not just watch their video on their newest album and listen to two of thier testemonies.

They have a style, get over it. God had many names, Jah being one they like use and probably because it's a lyrical/musical name for God.

The other "rasta" guy is a friend of theirs. Who cares how he beleives in God, and Jesus' sacrifice but so as long he does, who cares? And even if he didn't, what difference would it make?

As far as denying the spin ad:

You will notice that POD doesn't really deny ANYTHING that gets throw at them. Very similar to Jesus. Those who know POD know that they are christians. They have nothing to prove, and as long as you keep asking dumb, probing questions that try to destroy thier testemony (which better than most christian bands and singers) you will never be satisfied with the answers you will recieve.

H.R. is from a band called Bad Brains later to be renamed Soul Brains. they were very obviously RASFTAFARIAN. I wouldn't have any problem if he believed in the God of the Bible and he sang to Him on the song. But the fact is, he doesn'yt. He sings to his false, rasta god. they allowed someone to worship an idol on one of their songs and have never said any sort of apology for it. Clearly, they must find that "rastas cand Christains believe in the same god"

So clearly, either I am wrong or they are wrong. Someone needs to reach out to P.O.D. and correct them on their skewed biblical stance.

Do you know them personally? No, so how can you take a stance like that? Christians will face resistance just like POD is. The world will throw everything it has at us, including POD.
Read POD's lyrics and read up on them-- the personal things-- like thier testemonies.

They're actions are loving, and thier words are God breathed for they are inspired by love and the bible.

Idol worship? what idol might this be? The fact that you are accusing your own brethern (POD) of these things, assuming that your testemony is no better since we are all sinners, is even more distgusting to me not to mention that you prolly no nothing about thier lives and thier motives.
